Chris Dawes

Maybe Dawes could have elective surgery to have hands grafted to his shins, given that is where the ball seems to be delivered to him half the time.

Dawes isn't a superstar, and yes we paid overs for him. But he would be serviceable in most other sides as a second or 3rd tall. We have bigger problems than Dawes right now.

And for that he gets $700 000 PA?

I'm talking about Hogan 'old dee'.

He does the simple things well, that's why he's our number 1 forward.

Dawes rarely leads up to the ball and often doesn't make it to the contest, these things are not hard to do. Doing something when you get there is the hard part.

Dawes is an integral part of this club.

Must play every week.

I don't know about that, technically half our wins this year have been without him..

No he is part of the bigger problem.

Coming out to the media pretending to talk tough yet come game day he absolutely spuds it up. I wouldn't be surprise if the Hawks players were taking the [censored] out of him on Saturday.

If your going to dish out the talk be very willing to back it up on field. Which he didn't. Infact didn't even look remotely close to it. Even Roos was perplexed on what Dawes said.

He is a bloody leader of this footy that can't even do the basics right as a key forward. Even this year i have seen the ball lace out to him and he still drops them!

Collingwood are still laughing at us for going so hard at him. Has he delivered for this footy club? Absolutely not.

If the coaching selection is smart they will drop him this weekend for Hogan.

Collingwood went for Quentin Lynch to replace Dawes, I don't think they are really laughing.

I think when he was first traded to the club there was a void in leadership around the place which he helped to fill. But now we have others who have stepped up TMac being an example. On field he has been dissapointing, we can't keep just rolling out the "big body" "ties up a key defender" line each week. Teams no 1 defender will go to Hogan. I don't think he is providing a headache for opposition teams when doing their analysis of us. Would love to know how much is left on his contract for next year.

They got Tim Broomhead out of him who looks a fine young player and will have a good career at Collingwood.

We got a Forward who can't even do what forwards are suppose to do and thats mark a ball and kick a goal!

Oh but he talks tough..

What use is he to us being decent in another side? He needs to be serviceable in our side. And he's not doing that at the moment.

I'm not defending Dawes but this type of revisionism is silly. Of course if he plays a shocker and we get smashed, the next week you can bag him for it. It's easy. You wouldn't be bagging him if he played well and won - but it's the same exact act from the week earlier, how does what happened in the game change that? Besides, are we such a s0ftcock club that we don't even want our players to talk confidently in the media, because we don't want to upset the monster that is Hawthorn? Imagine if Dawes said 'honestly, Hawthorn are just a class above us. The best we can hope for is a 10-goal loss but it is more likely to be 100'. Would you now be praising him for his accuracy?

Go ahead and critique his poor form but using some irrelevant media talk as ammo against him is just unfair and weak

Honestly i didn't expect him to play well. I just don't rate him at all. Since he has been at the club i haven't walked away from a game and thought "jeez how huge was Dawes today" i have no confidence when they kick it to him because when he drops it gets turned over.

I would rather him focus on getting a kick first before talking to any media outlets. But as i noted if he is going to come out with all the [censored] talk then he needs to back it up with his actions on field in which he failed to do.

Yep..

Don't worry i already know he won't get dropped which infuriates me.

What's the mail you guys have that says he won't be dropped.

It would have to be a very good reason with Hogan right to come back in and Pedersen playing as well as he did last game.

Dawes' marking gets worse and worse, because he's allowed to get away with it by the coaching staff who see him as essential best 22.

Put Dawes and Watts in the forward 50 for 22 games - and I guarantee you Watts will kick more goals, take more marks and get more disposals.

Dawes must be really good at the intangibles, whatever those are, to keep getting picked.

Dawes has an uncanny knack of impacting the area when he gets there.

2 things the other bloke rarely does..

Yes, and I will never understand why this is a bigger priority than adding to the scoreboard and getting hands on the leather.

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak
