Dawes is a premiership player who performed exceptionally well in that Grand Final!

Toumpas is???

Steven Armstrong, Mitch Morton, Shannon Motlop.

See a trend here?

Bacm on topic im not happy with selections. And its not a knock on JKH also.

Rumours that jones might not play?

source is just comments on fb - people posting they have heard he may not play.

I don't mind the idea of resting Jones if it means he'll be fit and firing for Richmond next week.

I see you've identified 3 bad players out of the last 300 or so that have won premierships

Interesting they didn't replace Viney with McKenzie, but went instead with the more attacking JKH. It looks like they are gong to attack....

Toumpas is also 21 Dawes is what 27? Reckon 6 extra years experience, 6 pre seasons and 6 years of good coaching probably makes a slight difference.

Anyone know what jersey we are wearing?

As a mark of respect to the late, great Richie Benaud, it should be one of the cream, the bone, the white, the off-white, the ivory or the beige.

I'd personally prefer Pedersen to Dawes at the moment. Better hands, better kick, more versatile. He has VFL form behind him too.

He's hardly bashed down the door at VFL level though. He does give some versatility in to the ruck, but he doesn't excel in that role. Slightly better kick, maybe better field kick but shaky in front of goal just like Dawes. More likely to take a strong grab, but less likely to get to as many contests. Certainly not as good defensively as well. It's all much of a muchness, but Pedo needs a few more good weeks in the VFL to replace Dawes I think.

Too top heavy, frost needs to either play a key post or be replaced by a genuine runner imo

I think it's either Dawes or Frost...we need a 2nd ruck option with Hogan and Watts.

For everyone's information, I'm in adelaide with work and it has bucketed down here overnight and is forecast to throughout the rest of the day. Tomorrow is also looking quite ordinary. Wonder if that factors in with the final team.

Sorry to hear you are in Adelaide. Very sad. On the other hand a wet track might just be in our favour. Fancy us in the wet and should be beneficial for the crumbing forwards around the packs. Just got to get it in there and get it to the ground. Hogan and Dawes can do that.

Pedo is named as CHB against Frankston in the VFL so hardly being groomed to replace Dawes in the Forwardline.

Thank you! It's no melbourne that's for sure. The new stadium is very impressive. I don't know I agree regarding the wet deck helping us. Especially if we don't go in hard like the second half last weekend. The forwards amd defence seem fine, it's going to be contested ball and clearances again and as much as I hope I'm wrong, they have far too much strength there. More so with viney missing.

Just day dreaming and deluding myself.

Anyone see the light training run in Adelaide? Which emergency traveled?

I think I saw Michie in the photos..... maybe needed for Jones if he is injured.

Yep he is over there.

Posted (edited)

Michie completed the 'activation' session today i was there. Garlett wasn't there but i was assured by one of the players that he was just getting a later flight.

not much to report it was pretty low key stuff just a light jog and quite a lot of huddled chat. It started drizzling during session but Salem was as slick with the sherrin as he was one of the two soccer balls out there.

Surely Brodie Smith wont play for the Crows?

That would be borderline medical negligence. If he gets knocked out again tomorrow the Crows doctor will come under heavy fire

He'll play. Getting the 4 points is apparently more important than ones safety.

Plus didn't Parker or some other Swan play last week after a serious concussion the week before?

Yep round 1, pretty sickening clash with Franklin, out cold before he hit the deck.

    TRAINING: Wednesday 19th February 2025

Demonlander The Analyser was the sole Trackwatcher out at Casey Fields today to bring you the following observations from this mornings preseason training session. Training  was at Casey today. It consisted of a match simulation for one half  and then a free choice activity time. Activities included kicking for goal,  aerial , contest work etc. I noticed the following players not in match simulation Jack Viney  running laps and looks fine for round one . I think Kolt looks like he’s im

    TRAINING: Wednesday 12th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. Firstly the bad news - McVee went down late, which does look like a bad hammy - towards the end of match sim, as he kicked the ball. Had to

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

    TRAINING: Wednesday 5th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
