I know it means absolutely nothing after round 1..

But its been a bloody long time since we've been in the top 4!

Rnd 1 teams that looked good for the whole game were Port, Hawks and Freemantle. No other winners were totally convincing. On that basis we can win a few games previously marked down as losses.

Top 4 at seasons end, No. Knocking on the door of the 8, Yes!! Go Dees.

'absolutely nothing' is not quite right.. it means we performed better than 14 clubs in the first outing. Our opponent was not all that flash though if we're being honest

Next week: A real chance to get back-to-back wins for the first time since r13/14, 2011

When was the last time we were inside the 8 at the end of a round ? I'd be guessing about round 5-6 2011 ?

We were last in the top 4 in Round 21, 2006, after beating North by 50 points at the G (our most recent win against them) and drawing with Geelong in Geelong (our most recent non-loss to Geelong).

We then got belted by Adelaide in Adelaide (when Bartram got injured IIRC?) to slip out of the top 4, putting us 7th and in the Elimination Final against St Kilda.

With a win next week we will be in the 8 for a while to come. This will be good for the mindset of the players and club, not to mention the long suffering supporters. When players see the team in the 8 week after week this can only be a good thing.

GWS have to be considered an easier opponent that Gold Coast. We're in with a decent chance next week.

We should never consider any opponent easy. We have no right to that mindset.

Go up to Canberra, secure 4 points, nobody get reported & come home.

It's not at the MCG. Makes it a tougher assignment

Stop thinking the job is done.

So many times this club has lost the "easy" games in the past
