Mate ideally we'd have all our players on 350k, all playing for the love of the jumper.

But reality says if you want a good player to cross over to your club you need to pay them decent coin. We've done it in the past and there's no doubt that if we were desperate to land Prestia we'd offer him big money. Not stupid money, but big money. If Fyfe declared himself available do you think we'd say to him "come to the Dees Nat, we'll only give you $400k but you may get to play in a premiership"?! If youre desperate to sign a great player from another team you have to pay him like a great player.

Where did I say we'd pay him $350k? We'd pay him good money, but not ridiculous Richmond money. There is some grey in the middle.

I think there is still a bit to play out here, the deal he's been offered is way overs, Dimma is on shakey ground and i am 99.9% certain any replacement coach would seriously re-think this decision as giving up pick 6 for Prestia given his injury prone-ness would be a disaster. 

5 assistants sacked already, coach on shakey ground, board on shakey ground, noone at the Tigers is safe, imo close to the worst list going around, no young talent coming through, this decision is 100% financial from Prestia.

The moment anyone without Dimma level delusion gets hold of that list they'll be going through a full re-build, i wouldn't be surprised if their " stars" are already one foot out the door.

I do like how the Tigers said they got their rebuild all wrong... so they throw away a high draft pick for an injury prone midfielder who doesn't fix any of their problems.

Let's not forget that Richmond has one thing going for it that's better that us - our medical team.

If they say his knee is right, then lock it in that he'll play Round 1 next year.

That said, he's a spud anyway (now that he's not coming to us but is going to Richmond).

I'm not sure of the appeal either, maybe the coin? He wanted to come play in his home state Richmond offered him the cash so he's taken it. From what I know his parents are the caterers for the club and also life long supporters. However do we have enough cap space? Probably not and also we don't have a first round pick in this years draft to offer like Richmond do.

There are ways around the draft pick issue, as Gold Coast can use a range of later picks for academy players (do they have any?).

Anyway, its all academic. A career of misery it'll be...

it has to be about money , really from one basket case to another , and lets be honest if its true 5 years at 750k   can you blame him 

mind you i would like some success along the way, so would take less to play at a club on the way up.

the question is will his knees hold up, and Richmond must think for that sort of coin. 

players only have limited years and need to make the most out of it, and with his issues you can see why he could and will get used to playing with a losing team , who know richmond might finish 9th again .....

It's funny isnt it. The list looks seriously in trouble and more trouble as they are trying to dig themselves out of a bad drafting hole. Would have loved him to say he looked at Collingwood and Richmond and decided Richmond had the better list....
