Roos comment "We don't have a Dangerfield" says a couple of things to me. Firstly Prestia just shortened and it was a veiled comment on our skippers effort. Normally I'm a bit of a fan of Jonesy but he didn't show up yesterday. Not what you would expect of a leader.

Nathan Jones should have responded with "We don't have an Alistair Clarkson". Roos didn't show up once again. Not what you would expect of a leader.

You know what..  the thing is I reckon Roos did... That's just it. A great assembler... creator of culture. Fn useless day game general. His lieutenants aren't much on game day either. We've got some great people in the FD.  Just no one to organise a win .

Very interesting if true regarding Prestia..

And Tom McDonald is a peanut if he is seriously asking that much.

Agreed RE McDonald. I love him, he is a good player. And maybe he'd command close to that on the open market, but if he wants success he won't get it. I remember reading someone like Gibson at Hawthorn was on $400k. If he wants silly coin, he'll have to move on.

yet dawes was (reportedly) on 600k (and on the old salary cap deal)

anyway, i'm just cherry picking with dawes just as you are cherry picking with gibson

we aren't going to keep/attract players offering hawthorn type contracts (for obvious reasons) and suggesting 400k for tmac is an insult

i don;t know what tmac is really worth under the new (yet to be announced) salary cap but it would be a lot lot more than 400k

What if Sydney can offer him $700k?

He is worth what the market will pay, and to me a very good KPD, with plenty of potential and scope for improvement (he is still so young), is worth a lot. There are lots of teams desperate for defenders. Hurley will command $800k a year easily. McDonald is younger and hasn't spent a year out of the game. McDonald is probably worth around $500k per year, but I would rather pay him overs, than spend the next 10 years saying we didn't win a final because we don't have good enough defenders.

well 500k on the old cap is probably 550-600k on the new cap. so if his manager is asking 700k it not a silly ambit position

Hopefully not. Not worth it. That's prima Donna backman dollars.  Tom's a very good 2nd backman.

He would be on 600 plus I would assume, T Mac is much important to us than our mids including Jonesy and therefore you need to pay him premium $$$$$.

Two pieces of info I found it yesterday is that Dees have a 5 year ofer on the Table for Prestia. I wasn't told how much, just how long.

I was was also told that Tom Mac wants $700,000 per season.

Watch some numpty journo report this in the next couple of days as a "rumour from a Melbourne insider".

Yes, because Tom McDonald himself will be the determining factor as to whether or not we can win a final over the next 10 years.

Brilliant.

You don't reckon a quality key defender can't be the difference between winning and losing a final? Really?

Clearly if Tom McDonald chooses to leave, we'll get someone in to take his spot.

But no, just like Frawley, I don't believe losing one player with serious limitations to their game at this point in time will decide whether or not we are able to win a final.

He can be a quality defender and he can also be an awful defender.

If he plays high quality football consistently for a couple of years then yes, I'll change my mind.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
