Training - Monday 23rd March, 2015

The Devil Inside

Recommended Posts

I am with TDI and others.

Fitzy has something and I bet the coaches know it. 200 centimeter athletic players that run like a gazelle dont grow on trees. Hes already shown a great goal sense and blistering pace.

Hes showed flashes, and I bet he will put it all together within 12 months,

I bet he wont. he has had longer than most to prove, and from the first time I saw him at training to now thought he would never make it. he just doesn't have the football ability. blistering pace means nothing if you cant get the pill.

Franklin was 2nd year last year for contested marks with 51 only behind Hawkins who had 56...

I'm with TDI on this - up until recently Franklin was not renown for his contested marking - fantastic on the lead ( so quick for a man his size) and as long as he could get the ball on the ground - he would tear you apart because he has great ground skills.

edit - I am renounda fro correcting my mistakes

reknown? c'mon nut, wrong on multiple counts

If you're 200 cm with awkward skill sets you need intensity and aggression to excel at AFL level, otherwise you're an occasional gap-filler. Fitzpatrick is handy depth at best.

They've given him a chance down back, because they've stamped his papers elsewhere.

almost got there - do you know i was sitting in a freakin management meeting for last 40 minutes and got the cold sweats because I realised I had left the "ed" off renowned.

Dean Kent? You think he is an average player? serious? Did you see him last season, especially his second half of the season? You crazy man.

OD and Song, only issue I have with Kent, uses his right leg to stand on only, reckon if he can get fit and firing could be the breakout this year, just needs a run without injury

Could not make the top ten in the B and F in 2014.

That is in a team that finished second last with four wins.

He is an average AFL player at this point.

Dean Kent is currently an average player

Dean Kent has the tools and potential to be a very good player

Dean Kent does not work hard enough to 1) create options 2) create space for a team mate 3) Gut run with his direct opponent

Basically Dean does not work hard enough when he doesn't have the ball

Impressive highlight reel, but the only thing preventing Kent from being a very very good AFL player is Dean, he has all the tools it up to him to put in the required effort, otherwise in 5 years time we will still be talking about what he could be

I don't mind him either I just think he is an average player.

Therein lies the problem - we have what you could describe as a few good footballers. Then we have a whole lot of could be, should be and would be footballers. Has Kent shown that he could be a more than handy footballer ? Absolutely - but at this stage he hasn't done it on a regular week in week out basis. I am far from writing him off. I just am waiting for the day that all these footballers who could be really good actually deliver on the promise.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
