And loyal and good character too.

Not like his ex mates in Frawley, Rivers and Clark who wanted to chase a cheap win or 2.

You cannot compare River's to Clark and Frawley, River's left because of Mark Neeld. I was a massive fan of River's i wish he was still with us.

I don't begrudge Rivers the move to a better side. He served our club well for ten years and realistically was never going to get deep into finals with us. In his case there really wasn't anything more to do at Melbourne except maybe help train up his replacement. That's a huge difference to Clark and Frawley. Frawley gave us one good season then chucked a wobbly, played like crap and walked out the moment his contract was up. Clark doesn't need his dubious acts listed again. Neither deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as Rivers.

The best part is, he doesn't turn every discussion into a bitter snark about the past!

I would like to see how he handles losing pressers.

It used to be painful to watch Trenners and Grimes front up and look like schoolboys who were about to face the principal for throwing paper planes in class. It was probably even more difficult for them as they were sitting next to Neeld who was giving an even worse account of himself.

Rivers would've been loyal to the club if given half a chance.

Neeld treated him very poorly and the club then low balled him on his contract.

That period of time needs to be expunged from the club's history.

Perhaps true Ron, definitely poorly coached and pushed from pillar to post. Don't know about the contract negotiations but I suspect there were a number of reasons for Rivers decision to move and as we know the lure of playing in a successful side at the end of your career after years of soul destroying thrashings is very strong. Think Alves, think Wells, think Frawley. You cannot blame the player despite supporters call for loyalty. No-one wants to play year after year in a losing side. That's what makes Jones exceptional but I suspect he has been very well looked after in his recent contract negotiations. Also prefer we don't expunge this period from our history. Important to learn from history and ensure we never go back there.

Very good again. Sounded a bit tired, but he continues to impress.

I assume SEN is a radio station. My old wireless only gets 3AR and 3LO. I think I can do without this new station unless it has literary reviews and interviews with avante garde writers. Does it cater for modernist writers or free exchange of radical or revolutionary discourse?

I went to listen to that SEN interview just now (once they loaded it to their site) and it asked me to log in...

Since when have you needed an account to listen to SEN?

http://www.sen.com.au/audio

Click on the interview link and it should play in the Audioboom player.

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
