In Bailey's last two years we won 8.5 wins respectively. Notwithstanding the improvement in all lists from year to year, we have a much better list comparative to the Bailey years.

Whether it be the Swans from 93-96, Dees 97-00, or Pies, Hawks and Port in more recent times, with the right talent and on/off-field leadership clubs can make inroads far quicker than expected.

Hogan, in particular, will have an impact beyond the conservative evaluations of most.

8 is a bare minimum for me.

If we are to improve which clubs are going to drop? usually if you want to improve a little help from other clubs dropping certainly doesn't go astrey

Interesting that most are predicting and many have said they'll accept 8 wins or less.

That's not even up to Bailey's last two years.

Personally I'm expecting more. Better list, better football department, better administration, easy draw.

And lets not get into the "Bailey's game plan wouldn't have won a GF". Footy is about winning and Bailey did with much fewer resources than Roos has now.

This year we would have realistic chance at beating Carlton ,Richmond ,Essendon ,StKilda ,Collingwood and the Bulldogs at least once to me beating most of these and a couple of interstaters would be a great year

Beating St.Kilda, GWS, GC and Footscray gives us 7 wins. Last year we dropped games against those sides and we simply shouldn't have.

When the sword of Damocles drops at Windy Hill next month, we can ink in a certain win against them as well.

We beat Richmond and Adelaide, neither who have added anything substantial to their list. We were more than competitive in half a dozen other games. I expect the same again this year.

I hate to be one of the same old but I think 9-10 is a pass mark for this year. None of the losses should be blowouts either. 9 to 10 wins reflects the level we were at pre 186. We, whether we like it or not, have been clawing back the lost ground from the period directly after that game and the year and a half of Neeld so if we are back to break even point then I am happy. That should then set us up for the goal PJ set at the AGM: finals in 2016.

I understand what you are saying but in reality losing to any side by one point means the improvement is still not enough.

I want this club to be beating everybody. That is where the Melbourne Football Club should be aiming to do

And until that happens i will see it as failure

I had this discussion with Rhino years ago and got shouted down which i thought was foolish

Improvement is not the issue - we're talking about the pass mark.

Why not straight 50% wins? That used to be a pass.
