Pass mark for 2015

Premiership as I am sick of waiting for number 13 and OD is not getting any younger.

In Bailey's last two years we won 8.5 wins respectively. Notwithstanding the improvement in all lists from year to year, we have a much better list comparative to the Bailey years.

Whether it be the Swans from 93-96, Dees 97-00, or Pies, Hawks and Port in more recent times, with the right talent and on/off-field leadership clubs can make inroads far quicker than expected.

Hogan, in particular, will have an impact beyond the conservative evaluations of most.

8 is a bare minimum for me.

Interesting that most are predicting and many have said they'll accept 8 wins or less.

That's not even up to Bailey's last two years.

Personally I'm expecting more. Better list, better football department, better administration, easy draw.

And lets not get into the "Bailey's game plan wouldn't have won a GF". Footy is about winning and Bailey did with much fewer resources than Roos has now.

Time to produce.

Beating St.Kilda, GWS, GC and Footscray gives us 7 wins. Last year we dropped games against those sides and we simply shouldn't have.

When the sword of Damocles drops at Windy Hill next month, we can ink in a certain win against them as well.

We beat Richmond and Adelaide, neither who have added anything substantial to their list. We were more than competitive in half a dozen other games. I expect the same again this year.

10 wins as a rock bottom bare minimum

I hate to be one of the same old but I think 9-10 is a pass mark for this year. None of the losses should be blowouts either. 9 to 10 wins reflects the level we were at pre 186. We, whether we like it or not, have been clawing back the lost ground from the period directly after that game and the year and a half of Neeld so if we are back to break even point then I am happy. That should then set us up for the goal PJ set at the AGM: finals in 2016.

Don't forget Port did us twice in very close ones

10 wins is a bare minimum for me.

The club is being run properly now with a top line coach and his hand picked assistants

Time to produce results and not just promises.

Anything under 10 wins for 2015 is a fail

And that includes close losses. If the MFC is in a close game late in the last Q we must aim to win it.

Massive improvement can be achieved through hard work and the right attitude.

Close enough is a fail.

disagree. If we lose narrowly to a top4 side I will be calling it a pass with flying colours, not a fail

ok you do that

I won't. The Club has to believe it can win before any change will happen

A loss is a loss and we all know how depressing they are.

Let me get this straight:

In R20 last year we lost to the Hawks by 50 pts at the G

In R7 2015 we have the same assignment

If we lose by a point, you will not consider that an improvement?

Fascinated to hear your response

A loss is a loss, we go in planning to win every game, a close loss isn't good enough anymore.

Exactly so sick to death of these stupid honorable losses.

Even Roosy has said he expect us going into every game with the mindset of winning it. He wont accept gracious defeats.

My response is that it is a loss

We get no points

Not good enough.

OK well let's see how many people agree with you if/when it happens. I'm tipping zero.

I would hope all MFC supporters feel the same way i do

Its the reason this club has had no success in 50 years

Close enough is not good enough. It's time to accept nothing less Curry

Even you must agree with that...hmmm??

OK, I'll bite! If we lose to Hawthorn by one point in round 7 and win the other 22 rounds then I will regard that as a massive improvement!

Whilst not directed at me I agree with all your statements...

That said I also apply a bit of realism towards this aproach and if we are able to push hawthorn, really push them and lose by 1 point it puts us in good stead for games in 2-3 years time.

As Paul Roos loves to say "competitive for longer" and that is my expectation and I expect nothing less than a massive increase in competitivity and that will also result in more wins

I understand what you are saying but in reality losing to any side by one point means the improvement is still not enough.

I want this club to be beating everybody. That is where the Melbourne Football Club should be aiming to do

And until that happens i will see it as failure

I hope PJ & Roosy feel the same way

I had this discussion with Rhino years ago and got shouted down which i thought was foolish

This club has failed for decades because people have let it get there

We as supporters must never accept that situation again

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
