Christian Petracca - Season Ending Knee Injury

I just swung by to see if Demonland exploded...

Now someone tell me how this could be Cameron schwabs fault

Schwabby was up a tree and caused it by slingshotting a little marble into his knee from distance.

Does that do it for you?

I almost forgot that Brendon Goddard also ruptured his ACL earlier in his career.

He didn't lose anything from his ACL, he came back just as good.

Adrian Peterson, an NFL player came back 8 months after an ACL to take out leagues best player, and nearly break the record in yards.

Nah I was looking for something much more elaborate and far fetched. Something like it being his fault for organising the deal to use the ground that it happened on. Or blame it on Dave misson or the recruiter who picked him. Something out of the usual d'land play book that couldn't possibly be a simple football incident

No. Jack Watts caused it to happen!

Hollow emptiness is what I feel right now .... but I can't find words to describe how Christian must feel.

Keep your chin up young fella, and come back the true star that us Demonlanders have craved for years.

No not Patricia as well.....

Whoops ... spell checker. Should have checked the checking.

Will leave the original as it has now been reposted. My apologies to Mr. P e t r a c c a.

You really don't believe that Demonox

He would have been lucky to get three votes for the season.

He has not played one game.I understand the disappointment but a little perspective would not go astray.

No mate but just disappointed for him and us.

I don't think there would have been such a big reaction if our club hadn't been so shi$t over the last 8 yrs.

All of us are looking forward to seeing him play but hey that's footy.

Going to attempt a silver lining here:

At least he will be at a reduced price for supercoach 2016.

who walked under a ladder

I was cursing and carrying on at work when I heard the news. My moaning consisted of the usual MFC supporter quotes. We all know the key words. Cursed, God hates us and so begins another year of crap. A work mate turned to me and said it could be worse you could be Essendon. Get well Christian.

I am really sorry to see Chritian do his knee and I wouldn't wish it on any afl player ( well maybe one )but is now the best time for him to do it. Imagine if he played maybe 3 or 4 games over the first 10 weeks which is what you would expect with P Roos and then he did his knee you would lose the rest of this year and probably next season as well due to fitness levels at least he now knows round 1 2016 is his target

Hogan

wait a year...breath in ...breath out

Truck wait a year....continue breathing.......

Ask yourself why?

Yes, very true, now that you put it in that light cowboy, it's a speed bump rather than an head on crash.

I was waiting for something to happen, we have had to good of a pre season.

OMG - what is that the almighty has against this club? Sure we sacked the greatest coach of all time, but isn't there a 50 year rule?

What awful luck for the kid and for the club

I despair that we will even get a true young star who will remain fit and uninjured through his career

GO DEES

you have got to be [censored] kidding me???

This club is cursed.

People saying its no big deal cos he is 'young' and has 'time on his side' and 'we had to wait for Hogan for a year cos of injury, we can wait for Petracca too' really are clueless .

This kid was going to have an Ollie Wines like debut season. Hes by far the most ready made rookie. A massive impact from round 1 was on the cards. He is an X factor player who would have been worth 1-3 more wins for us this season.

What ridiculous logic it is to say that cos Hogan lost a whole season we shouldn't care that Petracca will too as we are used to it and now we are excited to finally see Hogan debut, and we will feel that way in 12 months for Petracca.

Yeah well guess what, I and others were bloody excited to see Hogan debut at the start of 2014, and it sucked seeing him sidelined all season when he was by far the most talented and exciting player on the list. And we were bloody excited to see Petracca debut in a few weeks from now.

And now he will sadly begin the same way as Jesse, missing an entire season and we will be robbed of the joy of watching him turn games on their head at age 19.

This is horrible news and puts a real dampener on the season.

It's bad news and everyone has right to vent (where else can you if not here?), but keep it in perspective. Petracca wasn't going to be the single difference in getting 3 more wins this season. That's frankly ludicrous. There's nothing to say that he wouldn't have spent at least half the year at Casey. He might have the body but the fitness is a work in progress. At least he'll be ready for pre-season this time next year.

Rotten luck but the show must go on, with slightly greater opportunity for a Stretch or ANB to put their hand up.

Robbie gray suffered a high impact ACL, doing a lot of other damage.... All australian

I find it ironic that we overlooked a kid because he done an ACL and the player we picked up does his knee a couple of months later.

I just hope he can have a good talk to someone like Gray and take in his advice like Hogan did with Hawkins and not take advice from a Melbourne player because they can never get over injuries.

I blame Hird.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
