What the f#ck.

this is horrible news for Christian and the club.

My heart sunk in my chest when my brother told me.

Of course it happened, we probably should have known something was going on, how could the mfc have such a positive pre season.

It was all looking so great and up beat.

Well let's hope he's right for next year, this could seriously impact his longevity.

Very disappointing to the club and supporters wanting to see him in the red and blue and most importantly the kid himself. However keeping it in some sort of sunny side perspective:

Doing it now is better than during the season.

Doing it now in his career is better than once he gets momentum with maturity in years to come.

We lose nothing from last year with his loss this year.

Injuries will happen and the loss of a player with zero games is better than numerous others in the team (who I won't mention so as not to mozz them).

Unlike Hogan last year this is not a position that we cant cover in some way.

Knee's with the right surgery and rehab don't have lasting effects.

A knee is not a foot injury.

I refuse to get caught up with any curse or over reaction. Injuries happen. It sucks regardless of who it is but its just part of the game. Best of luck Christian in your recovery. I look forward to seeing you in the red and blue in 2016.

Its what we lost by not having Hogan playing last year and again the club will loose in more ways than one without Petracca.

What? He would have been lucky to finish in the top20 in the best and fairest, stop crying like little babies and harden up

Lions v Christian

Another win for Lions

Rich has recovered from his ACL I may have to swap the Petracca with Rich.

A little harsh C&B. Supporters here have the right to be disappointed by this news. Perspective will come later.

Pearce Hanley is out for 3 months, he their VC and finished 4th in the BnF last year, much bigger loss than what we suffered today and there will be plenty of others league wide

Enough with the WAWAWAWA we're cursed rubbish

they have the right of course, but they are blowing it way out of proportion and making it worse

You really don't believe that Demonox

He would have been lucky to get three votes for the season.

He has not played one game.I understand the disappointment but a little perspective would not go astray.

It's to be expected though. It will blow over once the season gets rolling and more realise that he wasn't going to play as much footy as they hoped anyway.

Or he could've been Ollie Wines or he could've been Christian Salem (showed a fair bit of promise in limited games) or he could've been Brad Green -lead us in to finals in his first year.

I understand being upset at the time and I get that people should now have calmed down a bit but it's amazing how we've swung from putting too much expectation on our draftees to completely the opposite direction and seemingly putting limits on them.

pft 95% of first year players do squat in their debut season and you know it

So could it be too much overloading that provoked this injury? Or is it simply a case of misfortune? Or both...

I thought it was caused by an innocuous bump that caused him to land awkwardly in general training.

Like anyone will notice that. He's a spud.

His was a no.1 pick.

On that basis pat could be one too.

I doubt it but that is the analogue you put up

Kreuzers career has been destroyed by injuries. Good analogy.

True. We don't really know if he was going to have a terrific year or struggle and spend most of it in the magoos.

For the record I've never put too much expectation on the kid and only hoped to see him earn his spot later in the year.

    TRAINING: Wednesday 19th February 2025

Demonlander The Analyser was the sole Trackwatcher out at Casey Fields today to bring you the following observations from this mornings preseason training session. Training  was at Casey today. It consisted of a match simulation for one half  and then a free choice activity time. Activities included kicking for goal,  aerial , contest work etc. I noticed the following players not in match simulation Jack Viney  running laps and looks fine for round one . I think Kolt looks like he’s im

    TRAINING: Wednesday 12th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. Firstly the bad news - McVee went down late, which does look like a bad hammy - towards the end of match sim, as he kicked the ball. Had to

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

    TRAINING: Wednesday 5th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
