Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I thought that would be the case, it is much better. I'm planning to buy one soon.

Old Dee I can understand it's probably not your style but if the club wants to grow the youth is very important ;).

I did say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder and quite happy for the MFC to sell whatever it thinks will work.

Just does not appeal to me.

Sometimes you dont have to reinvent the wheel. But this looks far better than the current onemelbourne-liverpool.jpg..its just the same but without gradient and shading.

My final Point on the logo...this is what would look better thank the current one, as I said earlier, the MFC are already going for the monogram only look (see this years apparel) so just jazz it up (i got this from BF)

But i like the current Logo Leon

It's obvious that you don't. The gradient gives it depth i like that.

Not everything CS did should be obliterated.

You have put your opinions across as the only way. I don't agree.

Manchester City & Liverpool logos don't float my boat either

I am a long time Gunners man.

If we are going to pursue raffle via phone app and special Twitter threads, the MCC will need to improve its wifi/3G/4G networks. Anytime there's a half decent crowd, it doesn't cope.

Naturally. But that should happen anyway. I think the existing WiFi went in in 2009. Must surely be due for a huge upgrade. Get more people on WiFi and the phone networks will be better as well.

The cow and sheep and the entire inner circle of that logo are the Melbourne City Council Flag, it ls the Melbourne Coat of Arms. Clever incorporation if you ask me.

You reproduce it everytime it is published in a newspaper, every piece of clothing it has to be embroidered on, every visual media outlet taht uses it, its looks shiezen. Ends up so small and you all the features are squashed. What relevance does the southern cross have to Melbourne FC? Let's remember that at the time of the inception of our club the southern cross wasn't even a feature on our flag.

Last night watching the tennis at the bottom of the base line was the word Melbourne with the letters boxed. I've seen it done like that on various tourism paraphanilia. It doesn't say "city of melbourne" because there's no need, Melbourne is identifiable enough by itself. I was under the impression we went from being the Demons to the Melbourne Demons a few years back in fear of relocation. I'm tired of hearing this is how the soccer does it, or this is how the NFL does it. Wasnt there a study done a few years ago that said per capita AFL had the 4th biggest crowd attendances in the world. Our next tv rights deal is tipped to be over a billion dollars. Anyone that matters is this game from the ceo's of the corporates or the clubs through to the coaches, players, members, supporters and right down to my daughter who reserves her right to pick her own team to follow and to have no real interest in football at the moment knows us as the Melbourne Demons/Dees and knows that we're been crap for years. And when we rise again and we will, we will still be the Melbourne Demons or the Dees. There is no identity crisis. I own a 2014 training shirt and polo, the emblem is fine, Im not sure what the issue is.

1. Win

2. Fill the crowd up. 20k in an 100k stadium doesn't cut it

3. Melbourne clap-clap-clap with the big redhead out the front. Love it or hate it it's infectious when we are winning

This is essentially it for me.

I can't stand commercialising football (or sport in general). Trying to mimic the NFL is not a good idea (their game day atmosphere is unique, based largely on their enormous periods of downtime during games).

If we get more competitive (whether it's winning or at least looking good), we'll get larger crowds. Even if it's only mid-30,000s, we here all know that we are for some strange reason a very loud supporter base and 30,000 of us matches 40,000+ of many other clubs.

Also, I love the 'Melbourne clap-clap-clap'.

One of the best experiences at the foot last year for me was at the Carlton game towards the end of the final quarter. With something like 10 minutes to go, there came seemingly from nowhere the chant 'Mel-bourne, Mel-bourne'. The crowd wasn't all that large that day, but from the Northern stand, that sounded very loud. All we have to do is start winning regularly for that sort of experience to become more common.

I agree with you that the gradient makes it too busy. Just keeps it simple. Your other logo works as well as an alternative logo for some different merchandise.

I'm personally a fan of the current logo though. One of basically the only good things the CS era has left over.

Fireworks.

We need more fireworks at the footy.

Some fireworks on the banner poles when the players run out - and some on the goal posts and/or around the boundary when goals are scored.

Um, if it's a day game then just use streamers or tickertape.

There was a game a few years ago (2011, Friday night against Carlton, possibly the night that Robbo & Jimmy sang with ONJ?) when the team ran out between a couple of flame throwers that put a few metres of flame upwards. It was a spectacular sight, but I remember thinking at the time "How on earth did they get permission to do that?". I also seem to recall that we played [censored] footy that night, so perhaps that was the reason that I haven't seen or heard of it being done again. :) :)

Match day experience? Bring back the bloody reserves! When I go to local footy, I'll get there at half time of the reserves, watch the rest of their match, then all of the seniors. Was exactly the same when the AFL used to have them on as the curtain raiser.

Also, the infamous bugler. Let me explain, I've been to probably 3 MCG games in the past 4 years. The first time I heard the bugler, I loved it, and from where I was sitting, a number of supporters loved it. As soon as they heard him, there was a cheer (not one from the Bronx), and clapping along started immediately. I was actually disappointed that he wasn't there when I last went to a game.

Can I just say with the bugler, FCS people, the Club are trying to do something that ISN'T commercialised, they are trying to do something that is recognisable when the MFC play at the MCG, why don't you just support it and make it a hit? Nothing new that gets introduced will get off the ground when supports shite-can everything. Look at Port as an example with their raising of the scarf pregame. Very few of their supporters bitched and moaned about doing it, the majority took it be the scruff of the neck and now it's a fixture before their game.

Something that I think may work would be getting one or two large jumpers that are held up by certain bays in the crowd. It's probably a bit soccer-like, and it's generally something that the AFL do before the Grand Final, but I'd be quite happy to be part of a bay that held up one large jumper as the team runs through the banner. I'm in my mid 30's, and would find this an exciting part of the pre-match experience. I would imagine what it'd be like for kids in the 4-18 year old range. I'd also think the players would like seeing it too.

In regards to the Demon Shop (off topic, but has been spoken about), the current location is crud. Either shift it to where the MCG Sports Tours start/finish from, or find a shop front that is more accessible. At Christmas time I was in Geelong. My wife barracks for them, and part of our stay in Geelong was to visit the Cats Shop. I was bloody jealous that she could access it so easy, and bloody peed off that the day I spent in Melbourne, I didn't go to the Demon Shop, due largely to its inconvenient location. I can assure you, I would buy something every time I go there.

It probably costs small fortune in gas and safety management to do it, but I think it would be worth it.

Being the 'Demons', maybe we could have some sort of hellish fire-breathing spectacle for the players to run out through.

If it all goes well, it would enhance our claim for more night matches as well - which is good for viewing and revenue.

Just heard on 3AW that's this is going to happen, along with something about the price of food.

Brilliant idea.

Set fire to the players as they run onto the ground!!

Superb....But what do we do for round 2?

AFL are also reporting the MCG's going to install lighting outside, which can all be changed to display home team colours etc. The short video shows an example in red and blue! Reckon it would look great for our home games!

Idea just needs a little tweaking. Get the opposition to enter the ground through the fire. Problem solved.

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
