Ex Dee to Captain Norwood on the quest for 4 on the trot!

Alex Georgiou was only with us for one season, but moves back home to Norwood and is now the Skipper of my beloved Redlegs.

Good luck to him and the boys on their journey to go Back to Back to Back to Back!

Yeah baby!

And other ex-Demon Jace Bode is in that leadership group which also includes Matt Panos who a few around here would have liked to have seen us draft t the end of last year.

Good leadership material?

The same bloke with the great judgment of dressing up with Terlich, as the schoolgirl opposed to Rolf Harris..?

Ok then.

Yeah it was a pretty horrible thing that they did. I hope he's sorry and apologised.

Yes. Let's judge his leadership based on one not so good choice that upset a few people.

It wasn't a spur of the moment decision, plenty of time to realise it was a carp idea.

He shouldn't be hung on one decision, but it's a recent example of a lack of decent decision-making.

Yeah it was a pretty horrible thing that they did. I hope he's sorry and apologised.

Are you really trying to compare the Charlie Hedbo saga to making light of child abuse?

I'm all for Charlie Hedbo and offending anyone for their stubborn and idiotic beliefs, but making light of child abuse victims is the type of offensive behaviour we should all be against.

Norwood probably based their decision on more extensive knowledge than yours. You're clearly deeply attached to your own judgement, however.

I actually think the MFC players acted (intentionally or otherwise) in a form of satire. I don't believe they had any intent to make light of child abuse, quiet the opposite. With taboo subjects I'd rather people out in the open making jokes than afraid to criticise and sweeping under the rug. That's the hallmark of those who allowed these things to happen for so long.

Somewhere in the world there are (so proclaimed) Islamic nutbags who probably don't care about Rolf Harris, yet find photos such as the one I posted as extremely upsetting. Of course I think they are nuts and you have nothing but good intentions in criticising Georgiou. But exactly where do you draw the line between what is offensive and what isn't? I don't believe it but I can understand why some people think their god is pretty sacred and important whilst Rolf Harris isn't no matter how evil he is.

That's what free speech means and the right to offend and be offended (which doesn't excuse bullying, harassment or otherwise).

You aren't hanging him. You aren't barging in to his work armed and shooting the place up. But you are suggesting he doesn't deserve a promotion and an opportunity based on one incident that happened in his spare time, that wasn't criminal and wasn't intended to hurt anyone and if it did the responsibility might have to go to the media who made a fuss about it more than him anyway.

They weren't "making light of child abuse" at all, they were ridiculing Rolf Harris. Which is a completely different thing, almost the exact opposite.

So why was one of them dressed up as a school girl?

So why was one of them dressed up as a school girl?

Well I thought that was key to the ridicule Wormburner. Their intent was to innocently ridicule Harris for being a [censored] pedophile, so one dressed as a young girl and the other as Harris.

Do you really not get where they were coming from, dumb though it was? Hey, I thought it was risky, dumb, naive and in poor taste, but without an ounce of malice toward child abuse victims, nor were they intending to portray child abuse as a less than serious offense, which was the only point of my comment above.

The Melbourne players hearts were in a good place, they're good guys, they just stupidly, naively as kids do, underestimated how some would view their silly joke. They've been heavily whipped publicly, they apologized, hopefully their punishment should all be over now.

I understand fully well where they were coming from, and to not eventually realise that some could find that very offensive, shows incredibly poor judgment.

I don't find it offensive, and I enjoy offending people, and think it's sometimes important to be offensive, but they are not the qualities you need to display as the captain of a football club.

Well he wasn't captain then. Hopefully the box ticked off on another dumb thing in life as we have all done. Some of the qualities of great former captains certainly made them not ideal citizens. I can think of a few greats who should have been in prison rather than leading football teams.

Enough on the references to Mad Monday. I say congratulations Georgiou, thanks for filling in a hole created last year when we were missing Clark and Hogan, and good luck in taking Norwood to their fourth Premiership. Let us see at the end of this season whether Georgiou's performance this year vindicates Norwood FC's faith in him.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
