Despite much optimum internally among many Melbourne fans after what appears to have been a strong recruiting drive and a good preseason to date, we're still on the nose with those who fix the odds*:-

4.00 Hawthorn

4.25 Sydney Swans

5.50 Port Adelaide

9.00 Fremantle

13.00 North Melbourne

14.00 Geelong

23.00 Richmond

26.00 Adelaide, West Coast Eagles

31.00 Essendon, West Coast

34.00 Collingwood

51.00 Brisbane, Carlton

101.00 Greater Western Sydney

126.00 Western Bulldogs

251.00 Melbourne

501.00 St. Kilda

They also have the Suns favourite ($1.44) to beat the Dees ($2.70) in Round 1.

Betting agencies seldom get these things wrong.

I think the Dees will be three spots higher but small amount of nit picking on my part.

It's a long way out from the premiership and, at this stage, their assessments of teams are necessarily based on most recent performances with only minor adjustments for changes in between time. The odds will change but if we're going to rise in the estimation of Sportsbet of anyone from the general public we need to put some performances on the board.

If they are 100% correct rjay we will al be very sad around here.

Fortunately they a bit off where the Dees are concerned.

The odds are for premiership.

Would you be silly enough to back them at any odds.

Anyone who backs the MFC over the last four years has a death wise where money is concerned.

Send it to me I will put it to better use.

All looks about right except for Richmond at $23.00. It's like people are willing them to be good. They're not good.

And backed themselves in for the year by drafting no one

"9th again...The Mighty Tigers finished 9th again..."

We are no chance of winning the premiership. They may as well have put our odds at $1,000,000.

This is going to be a year of growth, and if we perform really well and other teams struggle/suffer key injuries we can push for the 8. Scraping into finals would be a miracle and I'd be damn happy with that. Realistically I'd say we'll finish around 13th-14th. Definite improvement, but still a ways off.

Nonsense, with Taylor Hunt in their team they would have flogged Port in the first final.

Oh of course

And kicked with the breeze after winning the toss :)

I also think we should be at shorter odds than the Dogs with the loss of their senior players, but that's neither here nor there. Neither side are winning the flag this year.

Obviously you don't recall 2007 when we were installed as premiership favourite from the Victorian clubs at the beginning of the season..?

I'd love to know where they had Port placed over the last 2 preseasons, too.

I said "seldom" and you are correct 2007 is starting to be a faded memory

The last 6 years of crap take some getting my mind past.

Excuse my ignorance but can we take a bet then sell it?

You would be the only one to take $250

You may see someone take $1000 if the bookies would lay it. Even then you would be throwing your money down the drain.

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

    TRAINING: Monday 16th December 2024

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan.
