Dank has absolutely DESTROYED essendon in that interview.

No longer can the players claim innocence or that they were duped.

No longer can essendon pretend they didnt have records.

and "some approval somewhere in the world"

wow.

1st march 2015 . . the official beginning of the Essendon intra club war!

We are unlikely to have enough Lawyers in this town to handle the upcoming demand.

Parties interested in sponsoring/importing additional Legal resources should contact Defat.

Skilled - Skilled Regional Sponsored (Provisional) (475)

As much as I love the fact he is skewering EFC it is another self serving piece of crud by Dank. He left the records on the intranet? Didn't he keep a copy?

Didn't he work with the doctor? Why doesn't he have records? Oh, no medical oversight? More questions than answers....

I agree this is so now, but once the penalties are handed out, the court appeals are exhausted, and ESSENDON start destroying itself in a quagmire of litigation and recrimination, I think supporters, or many of them, will turn on Hird and Little. Of course, there will still be the hardcore, just as there were for many of the outdated ideologies of the 20th century,

This will be facilitated by endless histories of the saga, in books, newspaper exposes, and dare I say it television mini series. Slowly, Hird and Little will be seen to be the villains of the peace, the EFC will recover from Ashes, and Hird's name will be seen in very much the same way as Armstong's is today ie a golden boy who cheated and got found out and justly got punished with the full force of the law.

I still believe the majority of fans will stand by them. Basically since the start of this the bombers have been on a PR campaign to play the victim. All the witty hashtags like #standbyhird #backourboys #keepfighting

They're using their fans undying loyalty to paint themselves in a better light and frankly it disgusts me. Sure, stand by your club, but don't stand by these people who have brought your club to it's knees.

But not necessarily for Dank. No real reason why he'd keep his own copy, in fact his agreement with EFC may have been "EFC owns this valuable data, so only EFC will keep a copy". Whoops......

They put that guy in charge of the drug cabinet!

Dank comes across as a loon to me, has he changed dramatically or did the people in charge at Essendon fail in their duty of care? We know the answer.

One thing I do believe is that records were kept, that they no longer exist according to the EFC is damning. No thinking person believes that no records were kept. That evidence was destroyed should lead to further charges. The governance issues bringing the game into disrepute were for failure to keep proper records. Destroying records is another issue.

Dank needs to be put on record in a court of law. If the records existed once they will still be somewhere.

We need to Lance the boil that is Essendon, time for some strong arm tactics. Pun intended.

Copy of what, Sue? The kinds of records involved in this whole exercise would go well beyond mere receipts.

Of course your reference to 'valuable data' probably indicates that, but I can't imagine any situation involving scientific research/information/services at this level that would include the kind of agreement you're envisaging. Dank was selling his services, not his information base (which presumably wouldn't make too much sense to the EFC or anyone else without a lot of other contextual stuff anyway).

There will have been records. Records on drugs, how they were used, when, and with what effects will (at least should) have been compiled by Dank. EFC ought to have received summaries of one sort or another to verify that they were getting what they were paying for ... and maybe in a form that would allow them to duplicate the Dank regime at some other stage. But there's no way Dank would have alienated his own intellectual property (although I'm having to use the word 'intellectual' here fairly loosely).

On or off his rocker, he is right to question where the records are...

If he posted them on the intranet which you would think is the case then what has happened to them. If he didn't then what the hell were the EFC doing and why do they think they know what the players have taken.

He doesn't say what they were records of. All clubs have day to day records on spreadsheets on club intranets that record a whole lot of information about the players. The players have an app that they fill in everyday when they wake up. It has stuff like how many hours sleep, how fatigued their bodies feel, etc etc. Dank might be talking about this for all we know. It might have had no record of the drug regime at all.

This guy shows characteristics of a classic fraud. Everything is double speak. He doesn't say all the drugs were legal he says they were approved somewhere in the world. But for what. EPO was originally developed and approved as a blood thickener for cancer patients. It was later discovered that it was a very useful Performance Enhancer. On his logic Dank would be saying it is ok because it was approved. Who's he trying to fool.

Good point.

Approved for what? Approved for animal use. Approved weed killer. Approved for production. Approved for paint removal. Approved chemical weapon. He is a charlatan, and he was Essendons main man, scary.

I put this through Google Translate using "gibberish" as the source language and came up with the following:

edit... love this

"In the early days when we first started ... any player who could not say what we were giving them, what they were taking it for, what the benefit was, they weren't allowed to take it or have it until they sat down and I went through that again," he said. Dank said he and then high performance manager Dean Robinson enforced this until players were "coherent with that information".

doesnt matter who owned the data... whos not going to keep a copy for performance evaluations. etc.

He could point to its contents for use to push his barrow with other potential clients.... just leaving off the ol' you know...EFC label.

He's got/had a copy...bet on it.

Good post. Not only does he show the characteristics of a classic fraud he also shows characteristics of someone who can't help but want to inject himself into the story and keep himself relevant to the discussion. Look at the timing of his various media interviews and how often they say nothing but provide a few sound bites that can fuel a little media buzz and provide him with a little profile.

At least this time he didn't bang on about his pathetic line of seeing all and sundry in a court of law where his righteousness will be be displayed and dragons will be be slayed

Probably, but I'm not so sure. But Dank strikes me as such a cowboy that he might not bother to keep any records. He's just the sort of snake-oil salesman who'd be bragging about the results without any detailed data to back up his claims of success. After all, a potential customer is interested in the final result, not the day by day injection regime and 'progress'. If they asked for that detail, Dank might even claim that to be his secret IP. Or he may have just relied on Essendon keeping the records and assumed he'd have access to them whenever he wanted. Then they mysteriously disappeared.

But it is really beside the point. We're all sure Essendon kept records - big waste of money if they didn't and completely out of keeping with the micro management of players that goes on these days. The fact that they may no longer exist is damning enough. I'm almost surprised they haven't created a set of bogus, but innocent ones by now.

Cowboy or not... Anyone trying to understand the workings and effects of 'anything' will NEED some form of record in order to have date from which to extrapolate.

Its entirely implausible ( to me ) than none existed

I still don't get it, "nearly reaching picket fence levels" 3'6"?

Punjabi makes more sense.

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
