Sad passing of Ray this morning.

I posted about Ray's illness last year, but can't find the post. Just wanted to mention the sad passing of my lifelong demon buddy, Ray this morning, in Frankston palliative care. Ray bravely fought a brain cancer for nearly two years when he was only given three months. We used to go to watch the Dees play when we were kids, ducking off from Springy Under 12's and catching the No. 4 to Richmond. For long time supporters, that was when Phil Rhoden used to drop kick 55 yards from full back in the reserves. I was honoured to attend Ray's wedding last year, shortly after he was diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumour. Ray's family and mine are all crazy demon supporters and we spent lots of sunny (and otherwise) afternoons at the MCG screaming for our team over the years. You don't need to suffer any more, Ray, and we will all miss you and your wonderful sense of humor. You were taken before your time. Condolences to your wife, kids and extended family. BD

Ray is still a Demon and now he is free

He is still with you Bush Demon.

Take a scarf to the G next year

Condolences to family and friends of Ray, the more you talk and reminisce the stronger his presence will be felt.

RIP Ray.

Always sad to hear about the passing of a loyal Demon.

Condolences to all.

Agree and sincere condolences to family and friends.

I'm sorry to hear of your loss of your good mate 'Ray', Bushy

sounds like he put up a mighty fight

r.i.p. Ray

Sorry to hear 'Bush'...always treasure the memories of the good old days when as kids we could just jump on a train and go to the footy.

RIP Ray

Great Words Bushie. Im sorry for your loss.

We all talk about Melbourne being better "in the future." But many of us forget that the longer it takes for the future to come, the fewer of us will be able to see it. My grandfather is gone too, and he never got to see us get better. From 2007-2011 I kept saying we'd "be better next year." We weren't, and now (just like Ray) he'll never see it.

I wonder how many Melbourne supporters have died having never seen a premiership, or never seeing another one after our one in 64...

My auntie is 92 years old and has been supporting the dee's all her life

She still goes to most home games with a group of friend....Night games excepted (too late)

I give her my MCC guest ticket.....She has seen most of our flags during her time

I hope she will see another one before her time is up.....
