MFC MEMBERSHIP - SEASON 2015

I haven't heard this one before, could you elaborate

C & B as a MCC member there is no need to pay for MFC membership.

I do and most of my MCC-MelbourneFC supporting mates do as well. One of my sons the Melbourne supporter does not. ( He is o/s this year) The Richmond supporter (who cares) does not pay for RFC membership.

I would be surprised if an extra couple of thousand MCC members could not be persuaded to become MCC/MFC members.

I go regularly with a friend who is an MCC member i chide him regularly but he will not pay $1 more.

Poor effort I think but I suggest there are way more than 1 with this attitude.

I have a friend who is a MCC member and supports Essendon.

Does that same as my friend and has no intension of every buying a EFC membership.

OD I always view it as a donation to the club. If we start to win more regularly I am sure others will be happy to donate.

Every season I check if my friends have paid for the MCC/MFC membership, if they have not I chide them weekly until they have paid for MFC membership. (One to go)

Both the people I mentioned have hides as thick as a Rihno ManDee.

criticism is like water off a Duck's back to them.

I do hope that will be the case, but I do worry sometimes that we've burnt too many bridges with some supporters.

Just last week I was talking to a taxi driver who said he was an MFC supporter but couldn't even follow the footy anymore after what we've served up in previous years. He was shocked when I told him that I went every single week. He said he'd consider coming back after we'd actually won something. I tried to convince him that we are heading in the right direction and to get on board now, but he wouldn't have it.

Can't say I'm really concerned about those lapsed members. The way I see it is that if we start winning and the likes of Hogan, Brayshaw and even Fitzy (who, judging by the crowd reaction, is becoming a bit of a cult hero) regularly star, the kids will start to adopt our team and drag their parents along with them (hopefully). Membership numbers will start to grow.

Time for some new friends OD.

At my age new friends are not easy to acquire.

And besides that we have too much time invested in each other to quit now over a few dollars to the MFC.

Are there any extra "incentives" the club could add to entice MCC members to sign up? Obviously access to games is unnecessary though if they bundled something extra into a membership (like the premium member functions or something like that?) could maybe entice more people to sign up? Give them access to the club rooms before/after a game?

EDIT: It's only $50 or $60 for the MCC/MFC membership/donation isn't it?

So was thinking about how the club would like to create a link with the city and came up with this while at work, ( i realize the colors are wrong)

I was dissapointed that after making such a great video for this years membership drive that I didn't see it on Fox Footy, Free to air tv, see it in the papers or hear it on MMM or SEN (correct me if I'm wrong). I realize its costs money but what is the point in making it if not going to get on the front foot and get it out there. I would imagine the majority of people that visit the MFC website are members?

(hope the attachment works as had trouble uploading)

Busy day at work today :)

I like your idea though. Fwiw, the ads were aired on Fox at the start of the year. Haven't seen them for a while now though.

I'm not surprised with that Praha

Had a Messiah effect last year, unfortunately we got hit with the reality bus this year. Agree, no surprise. Hate to think what it would have been last year without the Messiah. Hopefully the second half of the year will confirm long term improvement and a few more wins with an easier draw and they'll start coming back next year.

To be honest it's a miracle we have 35,000.

We have more than the Saints (Finals in 04-06, 08-2011, two Grand Finals) and Bulldogs (three straight Prelims in late 00s) and almost as many as Norf (Prelim last year).

If we can close out the year strong and win 8 games, there is a strong possibility we could breeze past Geelong (42k) and Carlton (46k) next year or in 2017.

We're averaging 29,528 per home game, which is 10th in the league, and considerably more than the Saints (23k), North (22k) and Bulldogs (21k).

It is imperative we finish strong. If we only win 4 games again I can't see us cracking 35,000 again. We ruined a chance to crack 70,000 on Monday with a poor showing against Port.

This club's future is in its own hands. The fans have signed up. Hopefully the players do soon enough.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
