Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Lotta love for Jack, wish him all the best - he's still young and time is on his side.

Like Morabito at Fremantle, Jack deserves some luck with his body. Hopefully the club and the fans rally around Trengove in a similar fashion and we see him grace the G again someday.

Pretty much his last chance. Reading the AFL.com.au article it says that 95% of these injuries have no troubles with the screw, but of course that's not the case with Trenners.

Making the call now gives him an outside out of playing a bit in 2015, but realistically we won't see him until 2016.

It's those bl**dy screws again!! First Mitch now Jack and another problem with foot screws. Are we using the wrong thread?

We certainly have been putrid WYL. But isn't it largely emotion that keeps poor bas tards like you and me paying our memberships every year and going along to watch another flogging at Darklands?

Administrations and players are taking emotion out of the game but if we supporters dispose of it - what is left?

Spot on!!

Yes, because Cameron Schwab is responsible for Jack Trengove's injury. FMD

He was responsible for a lot of negligent and poor overseeing in his time, but he is not responsible for this one.

I refuse to believe that Trengove went through all of 2012 - 2014 with a fractured/injured foot. It may excuse his 2014 absence, but not his very poor form for the 2 years prior. The blame for Trengove's 2012 & 2013 is the coaching group headed by MN.

Schwab bashing is absolutely justifiable, but let's keep it in the areas where he did screw us over. There are so many to choose from and no need to create false one's.

You don't think Schwab wanted his number 2 draft pick Captain played & played & played after $cully was erased?

For 2 years he couldn't run.

2 years.

Honestly, if you believe Schwab picked the team you'll believe literally anything. As has already been said, there's enough genuine stuff for us to blame Schwab for without resorting to complete and utter fiction.

Schwab had nothing to do with Trengove's injury. And I'm pretty sure he had nothing to do with him becoming captain either; that was a Mark Neeld and coaching staff decision driven by input from the playing list who rated Trengove a natural leader.

Regardless, it wasn't just his 2014 that was impacted. 2012 and 2013 were well down on his output from previous years. It was sometime in 2012 that he lost his zip, and lost the penetration in his kicking.

2011 he averaged 20.7 disposals, 1.3 scoring shots and 5.3 tackles.

This dropped in 2012 to 17.7 disposals 0.8 scoring shots and 4.5 tackles.

That's a 15% decrease in output.

This injury has affected him for a while. Not sure he will make it back but if he can help play another 7-9 years. He only just turned 23.

It is now looking likely that Jack could miss the entire 2015 season even if the operation is a success.

One way or another, either by LTI or going onto the rookie list, it appears that the Jetta upgrade will come through Jack's spot on the list.

It will take pressure off Jack while he recovers and he can still receive his full contract payment.

By going onto the Rookie list he also allows the club to take another player.

I don't buy the bit about loyalty, as keeping him, paying him and looking after him, while he recovers without extra pressure to play, is the repayment for his loyalty.

Hopefully he returns to us playing good footy in the future, but a professional club IMO, would adopt my strategy.

No i see it merely as the action of a man who can see his little empire coming down.

Trengove was the "boy" we tanked for. The basis for the Red & Blueprint

The new captain. The new face.

It is a disgrace that he played with that injury for 2 years

If you think it is fiction so be it.

I agree that it sucks that he seems to have played injured. It's just the absurd leap from that to blaming Schwab that I challenge.

I'm not sure why I'm persisting with this discussion to be honest. I'm clearly a very slow learner.

Yep, Energy Watch was a disaster, and one Schwab should be held accountable for. Still not seeing the link to Trengove's foot.

Can we just have a thread somewhere ( another universe works for me ) .."Schwab broke everything ". He certainly has much to account but do we need to derail every thread... just saying !!

Also... When a player is forced to play with a debilitating injury for two years, due to mismanagement and substandard medical checks and rehabilitation... are we really surprised that he's re injured his foot?

He'll play AFL again, but not for a few years yet... His best is worth the wait, whether our club can wait... Who knows? He might turn out to be another gem we have stored for the Hawks...

Substandard medical checks?

Source?

The proof is in the pudding.

We all ranted and raved about his lost pace for two years and thought it was a groin.

Remember when we used some special cream on his foot?

Dave Misson isn't as brilliant as I at first thought.

Maybe you don't understand* that, like its counterpart the scaphoid in the wrist, the navicular injury can be impossible to diagnose for a very long time. It is not (necessarily) a matter of mismanagement and substandard medical checks as you put it - it can be just a matter of time before it declares itself.

*IF you are an orthopedic surgeon specializing in disorders of the foot then I will apologise

Veteran Saint Adam Schneider to take on rookie role

St Kilda have committeed to rookieing Schnieder. If they take him with their first pick that would reduce any risk they'll take Trengove if we plan on doing the same. Assuming though they'll take him with their last love rookie pick, however it probably reduces the number of speculative places they have available for JT.

I am not asking you to

It is my opinion that CS had fingers in way too many pies...Team selection in 2012 was one i think he influenced.

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
