Rhys Stanley traded to Cats

This deal could have very well just locked in Petracca to us as St. Kilda may look to replace a tall now.

Now they might look to take a tall with pick 1 in McCartin or wright.

If we can get Petracca and Brayshaw with pick 2 and 3 + 23. I know it's a longer route to success but that sounds pretty promising.

yup. This is what im hoping for now that the Trenners thing fell apart.

Petracca Brayshaw combo looks the goods. Petracca is strong enough to play Round 1. Brayshaw maybe a little more time but he has some go about him, thats for sure.

Here's hoping Hugh Goddard slips to pick 23, i reckon he will go alright as a CHB and would pair nicely with Frost at FB.

What makes everyone so sure Roos would play two draftees as anything but the sub next year? Hunt didn't play a single match, Salem was the sub about 6 times and JKH ran out of gas after the Adelaide match.

I know Salem had his illness, but the impact of two 18 year old midfielders will be negligent next year unless Roos changes his youth policy of developing in the seconds.

EDIT: For argument's sake these two would still be an improvement on several others on our list, but they'd be 2 or 3 years off building the tank Roos' game plan requires of all players.

Hunt was never selected to come in and have an impact in his first year or two he has a very immature body, Salem and JKH I would Say had successful years and exceeded Roos expectations as he said early on he didn't expect either to play much senior footy in 2014.

Petracca is more ready made for the rigours of AFL in saying that We shouldn't expect these kids to come in and turn this club around, give them time to develop at their own rate it should be the more experienced players that are going to turn our fortunes around. This is where our club has gone wrong in the past putting to much pressure on these young kids to come in and dominate from the get go, it very rarely happens.

If I was the Saints I'd be trying to offload pick 1 to GWS for pick 4 and either 7 or a player. They'll still get either Wright or McCartin at 4 and GWS will take Petracca at 1.

I'm going against the grain on Stanley. Sure he's been ordinary this far in his career, played forward, back and ruck. But I think he'll be a great lead up forward for the cats and let Hawkins stay close to goal and Clark as well once he's fit - Geelong wont rush him. They are paying a heavy price but I think it's worth it.

I reckon the saints will still go Petracca, they'll find a forward or KPD late in the draft.

Josh Bruce can do Stanley's job or play the 2 rucks. Play Tom Lee, Membrey and Spencer White in the short term. Then they'll be right in the battle for Boyd next year.

If you aren't a long term player and you have value then you get traded by the saints. I like it.

I don't rate him 'Georgiou', I think he's more athlete than footballer and really has no idea of how to play the game. Reminds me a lot of 'Picketts' mate, he will be a long term tease.

They'll have to give up pick 4 for Griffen.

Maybe, depends what happens there. They're refusing to entertain the idea of trading Boyd and Griffen is incommunicado pigshooting in rural SA. It's conceivable the Doggies could play hard ball and refuse to trade Griffen out or demand a player in return.

That's what I keep coming back to. With an ageing FF and no fantastic others and you clear a tall forward, why would you take a mid over a highly regarded KPF, if you had the chance.

Still time for them to trade 1 though.

I would say that Georgio is a footballer first and foremost and not particularly athletically gifted. The problem is he is not probably a good enough footballer.

Funny how two people can have diametrically opposed points of view from watching the same bloke play

Despite their need for tall forwards, the Saints have announced that they won't be trading pick 1 and their likely selection is Perracca. Make of that what you will given that we've already seen a couple of 360 degree turns by clubs this week.

Josh Mahoney has stated the club won't be trading 2 & 3 and, after GWS claimed three of the next four picks, it's unlikely that they would need to trade to improve just one spot.

It's Brayshaw at 2 and your guess at 3 ...

Meanwhile Geelong's strategy appears somewhat strange. They've lost two midfielders and delisted a few smart movers and replaced them with Clark and Stanley.

It's Game Day and the Dees are deep in the heart of enemy territory as they take on the Lions in Brisbane under the Friday Night Lights at the Gabba. Will the Demon finally be awakened and the season get back on track or will they meekly be sacrificed like lambs to the slaughter?

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.
