Pick 2 used by dees to snag best available mid

Picks 3 + 12 to Colling%^#* in exchange for Beams

Maybe its to help the Ryder deal get thru: An elite Port player to Dees for pick 3 and 12 and one of those Port sends on to Essendon (with their) 17 for Ryder.

Or something similar to help get the Beams deal thru altho I can't think of anyone I would want from the pies.

Look at this analytically.

Forget that he was a pick 2 and a former captain. We really don't have time for those sentimental decisions. They are at least best made now when morale and belief in Roos is high not in a couple of years time when it goes full McCartney.

Trengove can certainly play. But he doesn't have a natural position. Too slow to play outside. Not dynamic enough to play inside. Doesn't have the skills for half back or the x factor forward.

Our inside mids are Cross, Jones, Vince, Tyson Viney. Our outside mids should be Lumumba, Watts, Toumpas etc. It's not a strong group. But if Trengove isn't better than Michie, Riley or Toumpas what's the difference?

My biggest problem with the deal is it's 12 for 23 and is a 2 for 1 deal. If the Tigers throw in pick 49 as well as we can on trade that for Frost then I'm more interested (presuming we need that for Frost and/or can get someone else in the PSD.

As others have said, if we do it, the pick will be used as part of a larger trade.

Think of the larger trade as pick 3, pick 23 and Trengove for player X and a pick to on trade for Frost.

Here's the thing; I keep telling the Dees to get ruthless but when something like this comes up I'm conflicted. Treners showed loyalty, and we shafted him with early captaincy and it could be argued injury mismanagement, and now we could jut pack him off?

I love Trenners, but if this was to complete a Danger trade or similar, I wouldn't shut it down..

But I really do like Jack and on face value it looks a trade that could leave us the laughing stock yet again.

I'd rather chase GCSuns P-8, with Howe & P-39

Or Howe to Richmond for P-12... or maybe Grimes to Tiges for P-12

If its for the the good of the club then I'll take it. No player is bigger than the club. His career with us has been a sad story so far for all the promise he had. Hawthorn did a similar thing when Clarkson had a year on the job. Moved out some players which became good at other clubs but turned the Hawks back into a powerhouse.

A role model on the training track and originally injured his foot doing non-compulsory preseason training sessions.

Even the article sights him as being 'reluctant' to move to Richmond.

I don't get overly worked up about list decisions the club makes - but this one would do my head in.

This is like trading Woewodin all over again.

When he wins a brownlow & plays in a GF we can compare him to Woe....

- made co cap too early

- 'demoted' from co cap

- taken out of leadership group when injured

- has had 2 years of injuries

- now reluctantly sent packing

He is mentally a strong kid but crickey he is going to need a lot of mettle to deal with all the above.
