Not of same ability but a good Mitch type replacement. Help protect Hogan for a while up forward like Mitch was supposed to. Unless we have an eye on a ruckman in next years trade Grimley might be a good get. Comes from a good 'system' successful environment to.

Both Lowden and Grimley are up for trade, both would be best 22 at Melbourne.

Goal kicking ruckman don't pop-up all that often, would be nice to get one of them.

I agree. I'm not sure Spencer will be the player we would like him to be, Jamar is getting on and Gawn has had some knee issues. Lowden and Grimley could be very useful backup or even move past some of our current ruck stocks.

Grimely really suits as Jamar's replacement, gives Gawn some support, Spencer more time (I know he is taking a while) and King a few years to find his way. Right age bracket, can kick goals and by all reports has really developed his game to be a valuable forward.

I think it makes a lot of sense, will we anything left to trade?

hmm.....what would make a deal float here ?

I don't think we have much to offer. This is where I think the suggestion of a late swap of picks in the Clark deal is really important for us. If we can improve our later picks within the 40-50 range then I think we're getting close. Grimely might be moved on cheap due to the fact he just isn't getting a game. Really shaping as a younger David Hale type player.

Never seen him play, but what does he bring that Fitzy doesn't?

Nb. I'm not saying Fitzy is a star, but is this bloke better than him?

He did kick 45 goals in VFL. I don't really want him because i honestly wouldn't put him in our best 22, but i probably would put him ahead of Fitzy.

Talent wise, Fitzy is the better player. All factors considered you'd probably take Grimley. Fitzy has type 1 diabetes and was suffering from chronic fatigue during the year, the combination of those two afflictions has probably made it difficult for him to put on weight/ work to the levels needed of an AFL footballer. Meanwhile, Grimley is a very solid kid with little to no health concerns.

Agreed. Not that we're short on talls, we just struggle to get them playing.

I still have hope for Fitz though.

Hope Hope Hope

How long befor spenc and Fitz start to figure in the future of this club Starting to look like serious Cloggers

Would give up our second round pick for either Lowden or Grimley and their second round pick. With the O'rourke trade Hawthorn's 2nd rounder is currently their first pick, They may be interested in taking a first round slider at 23.

We could then use the Hawk second rounder for either Frost or Lyons, along with their third round pick.

Is there anyone with 2 picks in the late second/early third round that would entertain a swap for our 23.

We get Frost for one of those, then take the other to the draft or possibly throw one at Hallahan, Lowden or similar ilk.

Now I am doing one of those moot trades that [censored] me so much... carry on.

Geelong probably will have and they still haven't come to the table over Mitch. How we used those picks would be another story...one would go for Lumumba.

I'm quite sure Fitzy kicked 50+ for Casey a couple of years ago.

Personally, I'd rather perservere with Fitzy over Grimley. Fitzy has a bit of X factor that doesn't come often in ruck/forwards.

I think Grimley would come cheap. Could be a last minute deal, as the market won't be overly heated for him.

He would come cheap because he only a VFL level player, I would be surprised if anyone picks him up.

Delisted by the Hawks but promised to rookie him if he is available at their pick. Worth considering at RD pick 2 or 20?

http://www.hawthornfc.com.au/news/2014-08-25/grimley-wins-vfls-frosty-miller-medal

Didn't someone post that the Hawks players couldn't believe he was still on their list and that he wasn't any good?

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well …

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
