Potential Trades [Warning: Reading this thread may self-destruct]

I'm expecting a quiet trade day today...

Once we get our pick for Chip then the wheels will be in motion.

But when do we get our compo pick? It's been mentioned we will be told provisionally what our pick might be within 24hrs, however the acquisition of other free agents will dilute that pick. Therefore I can't see us gaining any compo pick until after free agency period finishes. That leaves what, the last 1-3 days to possibly do trades with it?

Other than the players who haven't 'performed'/don't have it/don't get it (Blease, Strauss etc) the first players Roos will trade are those who in his words 'can't let go of the past' and who 'expect to lose games' ie those that are really scarred by the past. If we can't trade them they will be 'depth' players next year or until their contracts expire.

Only the club really knows who the 'deeply scarred' players are and we shouldn't be at all surprised by who will be traded.

I guess he at least has some currency.

I mentioned last year we should have floated him for a trade. Who knows, maybe we did? I think it's possible he has less trade value now, but I'd be looking for a player trade here. I don't want a young recruit in exchange for a bloke we've put 78 games into. It doesn't really help us at this stage, particularly for what we'd get for him.

I think it's pretty clear Watts is one of those who is scarred.

Don't find a Howe trade surprising in the slightest. Has everyone forgotten the spray Roos gave him and Watts? He's less than in love with these two.

He was very good in defense in some games, but very quiet in others. Didn't have an interrupted preseason so no real excuse for a form slump given his fitness.

I think you'll find that Roos and Watts get on pretty well TBH, Howe also arguably has had his most consistent season since coming to the dees, not flashy, but more consistent output since going back. It's probably also looking at Watts comments to the MFC site after the season finished, pretty certain he loves having Roos as coach.

Not saying these guys both are not tradeable, but I think the comment linking the spray to wanting to trade them is a bit far.

He probably conveniently uses it as an excuse. Trade him whilst he still has any currency.

We have dropped interest in Daniel Merrett

Source? Thank god for that! Not a bad player but think we should be aiming for players who have a bit more football left in them!

yea look, that would be beautiful but there are some serious losses for the saint and dogs there. Can't see this happening. Will happily be proved wrong.

I would want Geelongs pick 33 as well (35 now i think). Mitch Clark is worth more than 7 ish positions in the draft.

Really hope that Ryder leaves under the approved avenue advocated by the players' association.

Essendon demanding like they are owed something for Ryder. To hell with that, they could have potentially caused serious health consequences to both himself and his newborn child and they continue to refuse to accept total responsibility and all the consequences deserved of that.

Port should tell the bombers to get faarked, we'll take Ryder via the free agency clause that Essendon's malpractice has allowed them to do.

Stick it up those arrogant pr!ck$.

ideal scenario is the Saints decide to keep pick 1 and draft McCartin

And we keep picks 2 and 3 for Petracca and Brasyshaw

Problem is, we wont know who the Saints want at pick 1 until draft day

Supposedly it's worked out beforehand so that clubs don't get shafted and therefore try and shaft in return. It makes sense that the 1st round is nutted out in advance, maybe with unofficial sweeteners involved with trades and latter draft picks. It's the afl version of insider trading.

There would be no harm in us simply asking them as they have nothing to lose in confiding with us if in fact they do want McCartin!

Head of StKilda's recruiting gave the impression on SEN this afternoon that Petracca was their man

That's to induce GWS to trade with them.

Sam Landsberger reporting that we are leaning toward taking both picks to the draft, as we aren't attracting the big fish deals we were after:

http://www.news.com.au/sport/afl/james-frawley-joins-hawthorn-as-a-free-agent-melbourne-receives-pick-3-as-compensation/story-fndv8os9-1227081173430

The Dom Tyson deal did come together quite late, but wouldn't be surprised (or too unhappy), if we take the picks to the draft.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
