Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

I think getting the Dalhaus move out in the media is to let the Saints know if they trade down to pick 4 they may miss out on the tall they wanted. If they are less likely to trade it our picks again become more valuable as they are the only ones in the market. Or GWS can't take the mid we want.

Lots of interesting maneuvering going on here. GWS are dealing with the Saints, and we're dealing with the Dogs. In almost any scenario, all 4 of us get what we want if we have one pick each in the top 4, but the Saints may have a preference with Wright and McCartin. If they gift GWS Petracca then they lose that choice. The power then falls on our shoulders.

Although I think we'll take Brayshaw if we keep one of the two top picks, the risk alone of us trading off BOTH picks 2 & 3 will be making St Kilda very nervous. They could trade off Petracca and end up with nothing, even by pick 4.

There are a few ways to deal with this.

If we want Petracca we just tell Saints if they want McCartin to not swap their pick. Then we take Petracca and Brayshaw. If they are as good as hyped then we have 2 class mids coming in. If Saints are going to swap their pick we tell them do that and we either take McCartin or swap him to Dogs. This allows us to get involved in all early deals for perhaps more players thrown in. We could get Frost or O'Rourke for nothing from GWS, a pick or player from Saints and a pick and player from Dogs.

This is a great opportunity for us to act ruthlessly like a top club.

MFC #3 & #22 to Bulldogs for #6 & Nathan Hrovat & pick 42

I don't mind trading down 3 to 6 but if it's Hrovat involved I wouldn't be bothering with our 2nd rounder. If dogs want it that badly they will give 6 and Hrovat for 3. If it's someone like Dalhaus then I would do it.

If we keep that 2nd rounder we can then on trade that to someone like the Roos for Greenwood. Which would give us Hrovat, Greenwood, Brayshaw/Petracca and someone like Weller or Laverde.

I wouldn't bother downgrading a top 5 pick just to get Hrovat.

Thoroughly underwhelming.

Remember, even Scully had a 40+ possession game where he looked a class above.

I remember, glad GWS were watching..

I am warming to keeping 2 and 3 and taking Brayshaw and Petracca or McCartin. If they are as good as most think, we can set ourselves up for the future. Either 2 quality mids or a mid and key forward.

Still plenty of room for more trades and picks after that.

Apparently the Swans have 2 priority Academy selections this year, Heeney and Hiscox. The Grand Finalist and recent Premier gets more help. Gotta love the AFL.

Heeney valued as a top-5 pick too

How are they allowed to get both if other teams bid on both players before their first pick?

They should have to choose. [censored] the AFL is a joke.

I like the way DA is thinking. Personally I don't think that we will secure Dangerfield and would be quite happy to see either Sheil or Dalhouse walk into our starting 22, especially when both these scenarios also provide us with Brayshaw and Stretch as depth.

You know what, DA, looking at any of those teams, they are pretty strong. With the exception of Grimes and perhaps McDonald, the disposal ability of the rest seems markedly better than this year. Funny that.

The Dangerfield team looks dynamic and exciting when you add his simple name to it. Having an out and out star changes the feel of a team. Suddenly, the opposition have to deal with Dangerfield, Jones, Tyson and Vince. Not to mention a developing Viney, with Cross and Sewell in support.

My crack at a dream scenario:

Trades:

Clark for 33(geel) on traded for Lamumba.

Picks 3 and 23 for Sam Day and 28(gc). **Probably paying slight overs for him picks wise to get him out and would need to throw the chequebook at him $$ wise to get him to come.

Blease and pick 60 for 45(carl) on traded for Frost.

Players in (3): Lamumba, Day, Frost

Players out (7): Frawley(FA), Clark, Blease, Byrnes(ret), Nicholson(del), Clisby(del), Strauss(del), King®(del)

Evans/ Tapscott will be on thin ice if someone is available through DFA/ PSD.

Picks: 2 (Petracca/ Brayshaw), 28 (best available), 41(f/s Stretch), 78(Jetta rookie upgrade)

Backs:

Frost, Dunn, Mcdonald, Jetta, Grimes, Garland, Terlich, Georgiou ®

It’ll be a very blue-collar backline, will be able to lock players down and provide pressure/ turnovers but will rely on the likes of Lamumba, Howe and Vince to provide the rebound. Pedersen and Georgiou are there for tall depth.

Mids:

N.Jones, Viney, Trengove, Tyson, Vince, Cross, Toumpas, pick 2, Michie, Riley, Barry, M.Jones, Mckenzie, Evans, Stretch

Still very young, but there are a lot of early draft picks in there now (Viney, Trengove, Toumpas, Tyson, pick 2). I’m Banking on significant improvement from the young players + if Trengove can stay fit and average 20+ touches a game it will be a massive boost.

Rucks:

Jamar, Spencer, Gawn

Would expect Gawn to take over the number 1 ruck mantle, playing 80% game time in the ruck. Day will be the back up ruck, playing mainly as a forward. Jamar and Spencer are solid depth.

Forwards:

Fitzpatrick, JKH, Hogan, Dawes, Kent, Salem, Bail

Dawes, Hogan and Day are a solid tall trio, with Gawn resting forward. Kent/ JKH/ Salem fighting it out for a small forward spot. Fitzpatrick/ Pedo as tall depth.

Utilities:

Lamumba (HBF/ wing), Day (KPP/ ruck), Howe (HBF/ HFF/ wing), Tapscott (?), Hunt (?), Watts (HFF/ HBF), Pedersen (KPP/ 2nd ruck)

Line-up:

B: Dunn, Frost, Jetta

HB: Grimes, Mcdonald, Garland

C: Vince, N.Jones, Lamumba

HF: Trengove, Dawes, Howe

F: Day, Hogan, JKH

R: Gawn, Viney, Tyson

Int: Watts, Toumpas, Cross, Salem (sub)

Emg: Jamar, Pedersen, pick 2

*Bolded players are new additions or expected to improve significantly upon their 2014 season.

Outside the top 25:

Pick 28, Stretch, Terlich, Michie, Riley, Barry, M.Jones, Mckenzie, Evans, Spencer, Fitzpatrick, Kent, Bail, Tapscott, Hunt.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
