Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I don't think we will get Dangerfield. Therefore...

Pick 3 to Sydney for Mitchell and their first round pick (approx. 18), and second round pick (approx. 36).

On-trade pick 18 and pick 36 to GWS for Greene and Frost.

We keep our 3rd round pick for Stretch. I just can't see anyone bidding on him prior to our 2nd rounder.

Edit - re Swans trade, maybe an agreement between a couple of old mates allowing Malceski to be delisted, thus coming to us as a delisted free agent.

To be honest, Ron, I have NFI if we will or won't get him, and have even less idea if we will try!

One thing I do believe though is that while Carlton are interested, and with Barry Prendergast being on their payroll, there is a far greater chance they will fcuk up any potential deal.

Sydney is going to lock in its first round pick for Isaac Henney (zone selection) so it won't be up for trade

Ah, equalization. Where the likely premiers get a top 5 draftee for the price of pick 18.

Yep. It's all wrong and we all know it. Worst of all, we all know the AFL don't care. The strength of the game in Sydney rates much higher than equalisation and the health of struggling Victorian clubs.

Imagine a competition where all 18 teams had an even spread of talent, and could win the premiership in any given year. Wouldn't that be something?

But no, we need Hawthorn in the grand final 3 years running and Sydney for the 2nd time in 3 years.

I don't begrudge Hawthorn for doing well as they have built a core of stars through clever drafting and trading (amazing to think they still have had a few high draft pick misses along the way) which has allowed them to have sustained success. Melbourne had this opportunity in recent years but Barry Prendergast and a lot of bad luck ruined this chance.

Sydney on the other hand have been very good at trading at drafting, however the COLA has given them an advantage over other clubs to attract and retain star players.

Makes sense, but only for the Saints. Trade in a key forward and draft a promising midfielder at #1, but what's in it for the Bulldogs apart from gaining a second or third rounder for Jones?

More likely the Saints trade 1 to Bulldogs for pick 6 + Liam Jones? Almost identical to our Tyson trade last year where both sides win handsomely. Saints get a promising forward in Jones and an early midfielder (maybe even Brayshaw), Bulldogs finally get a key forward in Wright or McCartin at the top of the draft, leaving Petracca at #2 for us.

http://m.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/western-bulldogs-forward-liam-jones-could-be-on-the-move-shaun-higgins-expected-to-leave/story-fni5f22o-1227050067973?nk=7e5ddb8bb5acf29a335e693691a62dff

It's not necessarily what the doggies want, but Jones is asking for more money than they want to give him.

we, the MFC ruined the chances, our Culture ruined our own chances to select the right people, to make important decisions for us. we have been the masters of our own deemise.

its the lack of leadership at our top, for 50 yrs, that has made the wrong choices all along the journey... and we are bound to continue this way until we wake Up.

we are our own Worst enemies. & the AFL gave up waiting for us to get things right, so they stepped in to fix it. they are being the surgeons of our resurrection.

I would honestly rather have Cale Morton running around for us again then Toby Greene.

I would not be surprised if we did our main trading with the two clubs we dealt with last year, Adelaide and GWS. Both to my mind have talent that want to move and we have the motivation to trade in talent.

I also think the progress of Tyson, Vince and to a lesser extent Riley will also appeal to some "unrealized" young talent at a range of clubs that can see that being at the Dees under Roos and his team will give them development opportunities and playing opportunities that are not available to them at other clubs.

It will be an interesting month or so.

Lesser extent Riley...but he did recover from a broken leg. He will be much better for the run next year. It takes a while to regain confidence but I liked him in the back half of the year! It will be interesting complimented by 1000's of posts!

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
