From what i heard a while ago Cameron is most likely Crows bound. Dont know how but if its true surely it would involve Dangerfield moving on somewhere

Pick 2 to gws. Cameron to ctows. Danger to the dees.the old 3 way

What a ridiculous comment.

I stated that the trade you suggested (let's not pretend you have 'Intel' either) was massively swayed in Melbourne's favour.

It's got nothing to do with whether the Demons should go after him or not.

Now you're just getting on your high horse.

Go back a re-read and interpret what I stated regarding the exchange of later picks, I stated "- hopefully in our favour" that part is my bias desire NOT my belief on the eventual if any trade.

Also mentioned fair chance Lumumba to the Dees as there hasn't been much interest from other clubs.

Rumor from facebook (so you know it's legit) Melbs pick 2 and 3rd rounder for GWS Cameron and Frost.

As strange as this sounds coming from a FB page, I can confirm this rumour.

I was informed a number of weeks ago by someone associated with the inner sanctum of the club that we were going hard after Jeremy Cameron and that it was sounding promising.

This was prior to/ around the time of the Dogs targeting Patton and then him going down with an ACL, so I'm not exactly sure where their intentions now lay or if that effects our chances of securing the in contract Cameron as the Dogs may now also be chasing him.

With regards to picks and what's involved I didn't and still don't know but it's blatantly obvious that if this was to eventuate our first pick would certainly be involved.

As for Frost I have heard nothing other than the associated newspaper article that we were looking at him to replace Frawley, so the trade proposed above makes sense and fits well with the murmurous I've heard.

Although, I wouldn't be surprised if it was more along the lines of our picks 2, 3 (if we get it), and 3rd rounder to GWS for Cameron, pick 4, and Frost. An exchange of later picks may also be involved - hopefully to our advantage.

if the Saints can recruit Jaksch or another tall marking forward, then they will draft Petracca with P-1.

.... the Giants want Petracca as do most teams. So the Saints not being able to get a trade happening for a tall forward, helps us Re our P-2 value.

We have to ensure we get Jaksch, as he seems the key to our value of P-2. force the Saints to use P-1 on a tall forward.

My ideal: >

Mitch Clark to the Blues for P-7....

P-2, P-22 & R Bail, to GWS Giants, for (Shiel, Jaksch & Frost)

we then have: Dylan Shiel, (Frawley compo), P-7, Christian Jaksch, P-22, Frost, etc,,,

Higgins maybe, Jones no. Wouldn't want to give too much for Higgins either.

Higgins seems destined for someone like Carlton or Richmond anyway. He suits their profile - soft, injury prone outside runner with decent skills.

Higgins or Liam Jones anyone? Talking footy mentioned senior players at WB disgruntled with McCarthy.

Griffen for pick 2 and pick back to us.

Now there's a great senior mid.

Has any club ever traded their captain? Unprecedented.

A club in desperate need of a key forward to compliment a young improving midfield. I think they have to if they want to move forward and Griffen is the only one with real currency unless they want to trade away Stringer or McCrae.

The other team that needs to bite the bullet is Richmond, would they trade Delidio. Again the only one with real currency, but they haven't got the courage to make tough decisions. Hardwick is too close to his players.

Carlton are too dumb so they won't trade Gibbs.

Freo don't want a kid so they will look for a quick fix, Frawley gives them an answer down back and if McPharlin plays on he could go forward or the current rumour is they will make a play for Waite.

edit; the Cats might want a shot at McCartin, especially if Frawley doesn't end up there. They would really need to come up with a good deal though, maybe someone like Duncan.

All supposition, but I like the Griffen one.

Clubs aren't dumb or gutless for refusing to trade their captains, best players, and 'heart and soul' club men.

Then they will stay where they are and have no chance to win a flag in the current changing environment. You have to trade to get and you have to make the hard decisions.

It's a really unfortunate thing but the old idea of building a team and club on loyalty and jumper no longer exists . We have rapidly headed down the US path where it's more about the player than the club. This change has happened in the blink of an eye, the last major change like this happened when Barassi left Melbourne and professionalism started to creep into the game. We were slow on the uptake then, we can't be now.

I don't like this new football world at all, but because I don't like it, it doesn't mean it will go away. Bomber Thompson alluded to this last night on 360 and he's right on the money.

Ignoring Mitch Clark for a top 10 pick for the moment... Would be interested to see how you rate the individual pieces in the bolded trade. Personally I'd have Shiel as a top 5 pick + steak knives, Jaksch around his original draft position (mid teens) and Frost as a late 2nd to mid 3rd rounder (40-50ish). Would think Bails value is close to 0.

So far I have heard

Lumumba for Clark

Robinson for Blease

any others?

Doesn't Paul Roos have a no [censored] policy? don't think Robinson would fit in at the dees.. especially if Lumumba comes to the club. There is bound to be a clash between the two, probably because of robinson saying something stupid.

Can you someone please tell me we're going after Presita? :P

We had a really good go at him prior to his signing a 3 year extension. There was some interest from his manager. I'd say we'd be all over him next time he comes out of contract and would be some chance if our list improves and considering his family connections.

I'd be interested in Jones to fill a role if we can't get anybody else this trade period, so long as we aren't paying too much for him.

I wonder what the Dogs would ask for...

Guys this is a potential trade thread not a "Toumpas is crap" thread.

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
