Such a 'meh' award for me. Couldn't care less who wins it, means nothing.

Given the history of who has won it, there's not too many on the honour roll that wouldn't be in our Top 5 at some stage of their careers.

Bit depressing that we had nobody nominated given we're supposed to have a young list.

The closest we got was one week when JKH was in contention for a nomination but he missed out to someone else.

Perhaps next year with someone like Jesse Hogan or whoever we pick up with pick 2 if we manage to keep it.

Can think of something more depressing, our performances for the last 8 years.

2nd last again. No one gets a Rising Star weekly award. No one in the AA squad. No interest in the finals. No champion in the team.

Plenty to be depressed about.

I would be more impressed if about five young players on our list turned into solid AFL level players WJ

Cannot believe Nathan Jones wasn't even nominated, let alone being announced the winner!

Should highlight how height (or lack thereof) should count for squat come draft time.

Got to hand it to the Lions they lost 5 young players at the end of last season but seem to have drafted in or further developed young replacements in one season. They are probably only short a couple of KPP from being highly competitive again next year. If only we could do the something similar in the next 12 months.

Will be good, Bontempelli, but it was all hype. He didn't deserve it.

Probably had more to do with him being based in melb & maybe his management doing their best to drum up support.

Is that a massive typo? Nathan Jones is one of only a handful of players to have been nominated twice.

Hang on, I thought Josh Kelly was the standout superstar.. oh no it's just that the media talks like that because Melbourne didn't pick him

He got 1 vote better then Tyson and Salem in their respective years combined got in the rising star. Edited by olisik

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know if a Melbourne player has ever won it?

Posted (edited)

Nope, sorry, you'll have to just keep trying.

Facts hurt dont they

Couldve had both Bontempelli and Taylor. 77 votes of immediate impact between them.
