Just saw the panel had Bartlett, Richo and Frawley on it.

Reality check needed Nathan Jones ( clearly our best, aint near the top echelon) which really is what a few of us have been saying ........ Fabulous player but playing in a Sheeeeeeit team means just a tick under "A" grade

Dunn, Jetta very good but not as good as those whom they would replace.

REALITY CHECK !

Says the idiot pushing Juice's bandwagon.

I'd drop out Tom Libbertore, Jones is second in the comp for disposals, averaging 7 more disposals per game

Liberatore is the number 1 clearance player in the league. Jones stats stack up well but his impact on games was bigger last year. Those that expected him to get in need to remove the rose coloured glasses.

wake up old dee!

He has been a one man midfield since he arrived at the club. In any of the top eight teams he would win the Brownlow and many other top awards. To not be named in the squad is a disgrace.

The fact that he stands out in our team is because he is so damn good. your way off OLD DEE

Jones reminds me of the idea of a big fish in a small pond. i.e Hes very good on our list

and a small fish in the sea.....there are many who impact greater than he in the game overall.

I like Jonesy. who wouldnt. He gives and gives, not only gives of himself but gives a shlt about the club.

Is that the criteria for AA doubt it.

Those who dont always don rose coloured glasses this seems expected.

We need to be better.

He plays in the AFL there is no bigger pond, and he's killing them, what more can he do.

Having just read through this thread I am surprised and it takes a lot to surprise me these days were the MFC is concerned.

Jones has had a reasonable year as the captain of the worst side in the competition.

Except for that other side that was worse.

Jones has had a reasonable year as the captain of the worst side in the competition.

We are a side that had four wins and finished second last. we only missed last becuase we had a couple of percentage points better the Saints.

I dont remember Jones getting a best on ground nomination in any of the games this year.

He had some good games but also had some ordinary games.

He stands out at the MFC because he surrounded by a large number of poor footballers that does not make A Class just makes him the best of a bad lot.

The simple fact is that he is not in the AA 40 because he is not in the top 40 players.

Many just refuse to admit this. Jones was best afield maybe once, this year against Richmond. And that's a maybr.

I love the bloke, but he's a good not great player in a bad side. Champion Demon, but not one of the top 40 in the land.

Harsh reality.

He's our best player but he's not actually much good. He always runs into trouble and ends up on the bottom of the pack. No awareness of where to run to. Gets in the wrong position to take tap outs and hand passes. He's a great trier and leader just not an elite footballer.

Yes Jones is playing in the second worst team in 2014, and worst in recent history. Does that make his performance worse? IMO it makes his performance even better. Jones des not rely on players around him to shine. He does it by himself. Imagine how good he would be if he had a midfield like the hawks supporting his output.

thats because your opinion of a great team would be 11 Rioli's & 11 Franklins

He'd struggle to be in the Hawks best 22. Gets the ball a lot but provides little run and simply isn't damaging enough. Great midfielders influence a match no matter how bad a team is. If was as great as many here think he'd have taken matches like Brissie, Bulldogs, Saints by the balls. He doesnt. I really love Jonesy and want nothing more than for him to earn a premiership trophy, but hes no superstar. It takes watching a lot of footy to know this.

Having him as your best player (by far) is *not* a good thing.

Mark (no need to consult others) Evans has already told us that nothing short of the Black Death running through the club will get us a pick.

Well we can tell Mark ( I make it up as I go so who needs rules) Evans that the "black dog" has decimated our forward line. So we need special assistance espeially with no one in the top 40 and no rising stars to boot!!

    TRAINING: Wednesday 12th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
