What about the coaching staff too? Does Rawlings have another year on his contract? I'd be going after someone else. The backline was much stronger under Wellman. Both had an ordinary midfield in front of them, but our defenders seem to be stagnating, apart from Jetta.

except this is constructive... looks at possibilities and team make up. Optimistic and practical. Not just a get Shiel and delist Nicholson thread.

I'll give you credit in that your trades do have some basis in reality, unlike others claiming the Dogs would cough up Pick 6 for Watts and a 2nd rounder.

If Strauss was to be traded anywhere it would be the Swans. Mitch Morton is a prime example here - useless at his former club but gave something up north. The other trades seem relatively close to value, although I'm not convinced guys like Schroder and Lyons necessarily add something super positive to our list, but they can't be any worse than what we have.

Rookie upgrade - Nev Jetta (pick 94)

Trades - Crows trade Jarryd Lyons for Luke Tapscott

Trade - Dogs give pick 63 for Jack Fitzpatrick

Trade - Suns give # 49 for Rohan Bail & pick 63

Trade - Cats trade Jordan Schroder for Sam Blease

Trade - Swans trade Sam Reid for pick 23 & James Strauss

Delisted free agent: Nick Malcevski

Personally would rather go for Smedts than Schroder. Hasn't been able to lock down a position but has a lot of class and is a good size.

Yes I tried to consider who would be traded. Smedts is very highly regarded at Cattery. Trade of Schroder for Blease is a win win. I assume Blease may be delisted but a trade saves sime integrity.

I think we should make a run at him anyway, Blease is unders but the kid is not getting a game and no matter how highly regarded some cash and game time would come into the equation..

Is Smedts the son of a former cat as well. Does cash, losing culture and game time beat chance at a premiership, winning culture and family connection??

Gotta play to win a premiership & anyway I think Geelong are at the end of their run but worth a shot.

I reckon Roos should pick 10-15 players worth keeping and just turn the rest of this list over

Keep N.jones, Hogan, Vince, Cross, Viney, Tyson, Dunn, Mcdonald, JKH, Salem, Gawn, Garland and trade the rest

agree there is some optomism but Strauss , Blease and Tapscott were all 18-21 draft picks and many clubs see MFC environment as the issue. Like Petterd, Martin and Warnock, others see value in our discards.

and Bennell!

Tapscott, Blease and Strauss all were drafted 18-21 pick. Other clubs see them as having potential and flawed under MFC poor player development. Fitzpatrick has the height and goalsense to be considered. See Petterd & Martin as players now key players in their new clubs.

Some optimism in my post.

If Fitzy was being considered for the trade table, his game on the weekend did us no harm. I'd be up for holding on to him though, I think this year has been a being learning year for him in the ruck at Casey and that is a key reason why he hasn't played a lot of games, as a forward I think he still has potential. I would love for him to get more muscle on him though.

I've been a fan of his in the past but that set shot miss vs Lions told me it's time to try to move Jordie Mckenzie on, I reckon there might be a couple of clubs interested in him given some of the jobs he's done on the likes of Ablett and Goddard, and I would be comfortable seeing him go for a 3rd rounder or a young player (19-22).

Tapscott, Blease and Strauss will struggle to get us anything, we should have a go at trading them but if we can't get anything they should be delisted (jeez that was a terrible draft for us). Blease has the most potential to hurt us, his speed and livewire abilities could be seen as an upside but he he's only played a couple of games where he's actually had an impact.

Despite the calls for him to be traded, I think we'll keep Watts. My biggest thought on it is we won't get any value, and in the back of my mind I feel he would be a good player for us if we were a better side. I know he should be striving to make us better but he's the only player that can do the damaging release kick from half back.

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak
