I find this very interesting:

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2014-08-20/do-the-demons-need-a-priority-pick

The poll right now shows 33% in favour of the dees getting a PP.

When the exact same poll was embedded in the Barrett article this morning, it was sitting at 27%.

Quite an upswing. Interesting how an article presenting both sides of an argument produced a 6% increase in favourable votes over Barrett's ill thought out negativity rant.

Those figures are pleasantly surprising given there are relatively so few MFC supporters to vote (and even we seem to be somewhat split on the matter) and that the supporters of other clubs who you'd think were most likely to vote on any issue would be the most rabid in support of their own club.

quite odd really. Certainly not what your expect from the madding crowd is it.

given mfc supporters would be <5% and most club supporters are quite insular on these matters, then 33% is actually quite strong support

Unbelievable in fact dc

Can you vote more than once?

Mhm. I think I've voted like 10 times...not 100 percent sure if they didn't include the others

only 10 times mone? hell i voted at least 300 times

only joshing, lol

Peter Ryan should know - he is an AFL journo appointed to the Demons.

He is a journo who knows our list and our issues.

He has been paid to specifically know that stuff.

Now we are passing the hat around. I'm embarrassed. As a football club we are absolute sh it. We cannot sink any lower. No passion no pride.

I couldnt agree more, absolutely [censored] embarrasing, seriously lets turn thes guys into winners,I know they tried hard to lose over the weekend (not forgetting GWS came within 4pts to Aweforn at the G this yr) but really when are we going to play football, clearly sides pick up on our vibes and just play to destroy us. Get with the program MFC, there is actually talent there and fark frawley off and lets get some spine

Greg Swann just moments ago on SEN said he doesn't think a pick immediately after our first pick is fair, but "it would probably be fair if we got a pick after the bottom 9 teams or at the end of the first round." (paraphrasing)

Wasn't he in charge at the blues during K cup year?

Now there is an honest operator

Just surprised to hear another club figure support MFC's claim.

I've never thought an early pick was likely, but I do think that later options are definitely possible.

Allan Richardson said it would be surprising if we got one and St Kilda didnt because we were higher on the ladder then they are.

Well maybe if they didnt tank and trade out all there senior players and send playera to surgery we wouldnt be higher.

Honestly I would accept that, we lost Mitch Clark for nothing who we gave up a first round pick for. You want to talk about extraordinary circumstances surely he's the perfect example of that.

I agree he shouldn't comment on topic. But st kilda aren't tanking...their genuinely [censored] like us :P

difference being that they almost won a grand final a few years ago. A rebuild and the associated pain is appropriate timing for them, though they should get some help in some form from the AFL.

Well Mr Evans would say he is not dead so that does not count.

St kilda would have a fit if we got pick 1 and took McCartin forcing them to take Wright for a tall.

Gillon McLachlan should be telling Evans to shut his trap.

If he has indeed made commented on the likely outcome of our application, the club should show some strength and confront the AFL about one of its officers preempting the decision (which might open up a challenge if the outcome is adverse to the club). The situation is made more unpalatable by the fact that he is a former employee of the club. We have had enough problems caused by disgruntled employees in the past - I hope he's not another one.

This is Evans testing the waters, sussing out how much clout he has. Gil ought to knock it right on the head and tell the pissant to climb back in his little box. Its actually a test of leadership...wonder if Mclachlan realises it?

I wonder if he is up to it bb

Wally Lock?

A great Demon premiership player who was unlucky enough to play in only one winning grand final (missing three others due to injury).

Don't even dare to mention the name in the same breath as Evans.

Also, if Vlad was around he would have impaled the bloke by now for playing those games. It's an absolute disgrace and I hope PJ diplomatically makes his displeasure known.

The AFL has certain criteria to apply - if we don't qualify on the basis of those criteria, then so be it. If we do qualify (and I think the case for is unimpeachable) then let us have the pick. It's a drop in the ocean compared to what the AFL handed out to GCS and GWS and the rule has to remain to help clubs that are genuinely in trouble.

Could a priority pick be traded for a little elan to share amongst the current players? They are the ones that need help.

But so many of the current players don't lack elan - what they lack is the ability to be AFL players.

It is not effort that is lacking - it is ability that is lacking.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
