Despite not really caring I didnt actually think we could finish last. I now think we will. I still dont care for to do so would attribute an emotion towards this lot of rabble.

Now if next seasons list dont improve I'll be rather plssed off !!

Bring on the eos cull.

Not hate. Depression.

Fair enough

If it cheers u up (which it probably won't) at least this year we've been in games against top and bottom sides. It seems to be 1 qtr every game we lose the game.

Rewatch the win vs the tigers or bombers that always cheers me up

On the park today we had McKenzie,Tapscott,Blease,Terlich,Riley,

Well thats about 25% of your team that is not up to anything like AFL level.

No wonder we are a bottom side.

I came home angry. That playing group embarrassed themselves and the jumper today. I hope they get the mother of all sprays from Roos as today set back any gains and was possible the worst performance for the year besides the West Coast game. Too many spuds who make bad decisions, cannot kick to position or a lead and make awful decisions. Don't need to name them as we all know who they are. memo to recruiting, if a player cannot get a game at his current cub there is a reason they probably aren't good enough, so don't recruit them. Recruit fast, talented players who can kick and hit a target. That was awful to watch.

A quick note for that thug Merret. You are a weak gutless sniper who hit 2 blokes in the head in marking contests today. I hope your season is over and someone clunks you one day.

Effort is not just physical it is also mental - maintaining concentration and discipline. McKenzies missed goal I would say was due to lack of effort - if he had taken proper care he would never of missed it.

I would never doubt Jordie's endeavour - admire him for it. However that miss was a sad illustration of mental weakness / a lack of confidence in his skills.

The skills were poor. The decision making was even worse.

Kicking backwards WTF WTF WTF WTF !!!!!!!

handball to stationary players

Miss goal from 9 metres out Aaaaargh !!!!!!!

Handball 7 times in a circle.

Paul Roos must be suicidal

I don't see the link that people are making between skills and effort. It's like they assume that missed targets are because they aren't trying hard enough.

We clearly had effort, but we lack class on the outside. We comfortably won the contested possession but we turned it over. Brisbane were able to do a lot more damage outside packs than we were.

That's where we need to improve.

Obviously this is right, but it doesn't paint the entire picture.

It's not just class on the outside. We also need brains in the back half. We need harder two-way running from half-back. We need instinctive players who know when to attack and when not to. We need players who are smarter than choosing the 10-metres-to-a-contest option, or the contest in the middle when there's a spare player towards the boundary.

When we play well, your post usually sums up our losses. Today was a lot more than just a lack of class though (though it wasn't, by and large, anything to do with effort).

You just knew he was going to miss it as well. He didn't let us down.

same with Riley, no pleasant surprises at the MFC

Rubbish. You are starting with a destination in mind and then shoehorning the evidence to suit.

I would argue exactly the opposite happened. McKenzie tried too hard to kick it, so he poked at it nervously and missed.

I think that if your argument relies on McKenzie not giving enough effort then your argument is probably struggling.

His pass to Viney in the third summed up everything wrong with us at the minute. We worked hard to get it there and then made a stupid decision which lead to a turnover a goal to them.

Havent seen any pm Roos presser yet but I hope he doesnt say theres ANYTHING to hang a hat on.

That was abysmal.

Last few years we can't win games, down now to unable to win last quarters, maybe it will translate up to winning next season ( and I hate having to start the whole next season excitement this early:/)

Edit: spelling

You've got your opinion I've got mine. No need to label it as rubbish.

If you don't want your opinion to be judged then don't give it. Once you put it out there I can call it whatever I want.

And I (politely) called it 'rubbish'. Because it was.

Hard to compete when half the team on the list are not up to AFL standard.

And there we have it.

Blah blah blah.....

10 wins in 3 yrs is completely faaarked.

Glad you have the magic bullet.

We're still at ranting and not yet analysis? OK, I'll come back later.

If Paul Roos comes on AFL360 tomorrow night smiling I will vomit (if I can come at watching any footy show on T V after today).

Roosy probably made his mind up today on a few guys including some that have currency at trade.

Gotta be able to kick goals from 10 out. We had it won.

Frawley needs to go for the grab even if he cant see into the sun, he may get a glimpse at the last second or at least have it bounce off and get a second take at a grab.

Hated seeing Merett turn the game with that hit on Pederson. Was hoping someone would even up somehow.

Terrible ball use on the slingshot in the 2nd half.

First smile I've cracked in the last 4 hours. Thanks Bob.

You're an apologist for the club. There is no way you can spin the nature of today's loss. It was incompetent, weak and unacceptable.

We would be wrong as fans to cop it.

  • PREVIEW: North Melbourne

Can you believe it? After a long period of years over which Melbourne has dominated in matches against North Melbourne, the Demons are looking down the barrel at two defeats at the hands of the Kangaroos in the same season. And if that eventuates, it will come hot on the heels of an identical result against the Gold Coast Suns. How have the might fallen? There is a slight difference in that North Melbourne are not yet in the same place as Gold Coast. Like Melbourne, they are currently situated in the lower half of the ladder and though they did achieve a significant upset when the teams met earlier in the season, their subsequent form has been equally unimpressive and inconsistent.

  • REPORT: Adelaide

The atmosphere at the Melbourne Football Club at the beginning of the season was aspirational following an injury-plagued year in 2024. Coach Simon Goodwin had lofty expectations with the return of key players, the anticipated improvement from a maturing group with a few years of experience under their belts, and some exceptional young talent also joining the ranks. All of that went by the wayside as the team failed to click into action early on. It rallied briefly with a new strategy but has fallen again with five more  consecutive defeats.

  • CASEY: Coburg

The Casey Demons returned to their home ground which was once a graveyard for opposing teams but they managed to gift the four points on offer to Coburg with yet another of their trademark displays of inaccuracy in front of goals and some undisciplined football that earned the displeasure of the umpires late in the game. The home team was welcomed by a small crowd at Casey Fields and looked right at home as it dominated the first three quarters and led for all bar the last five minutes of the game. In the end, they came away with nothing, despite winning everywhere but on the scoreboard and the free kick count.

  • PREGAME: Rd 18 vs North Melbourne

After four weeks on the road the Demons make their long awaited return to the MCG next Sunday to play in a classic late season dead rubber against the North Melbourne Kangaroos. Who comes in and who comes out?

  • POSTGAME: Rd 17 vs Adelaide

The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.
