Liam Jurrah on 7.30

Featured Replies

This was the game that really stands out for me.

Even though Melbourne lost, he just seemed to have the ball on a string that day.

That might have been the last time a Demon player kicked 5 goals in a game

Geez we have been pathetic at scoring the last few seasons

As a club, we have really had bad luck with our forwards that struggle with one injury after another.

Jurrah had his high ankle and then thumb, took time off to get over the injuries and never came back.

Clarke had the foot, hamstring etc, took some time off and never came back.

Hogan had the back then the ???????, took some time off and _____________ .

Let us pray.

Such a waste of talent.

My son still has his signed #24 jersey which he still wears.

I always said that he wasn't half the player he was wearing 24 as he was on 48.

But I am truly confident - often a bad accolade from a Demon diehard - that the current #24 despite some obvious similarities will be as exciting a player and one with far more longevity that Liam.

Geez we have had some bad luck with players.

Look at what our forward 50 could have possibly looked like with Jurrah, Wonna, MC, Dawes and Hogan.

Now that would have been something to watch.

U never know though it could be Dawes, Hogan, JKH and Cameron. Still not bad.

LJ just like AJ teased us with their enormous talent for all too brief a period.

I wonder if Roos has considered the challenge of overseeing a Jurrah return to Melbourne. I think second chances and succeeding against enormous odds, as well as drawing on some deep MFC origins, all in a player only 25 years, would raise his interest.

Just returned from a holiday in the N.T. and the game in Darwin. A week in Alice convinced me talking to locals that Liam's biggest challenge will be to keep off the grog and out of jail. His chances of playing footy again are zero. His court order on release are that he must not drink alcohol for 12 months and he is to keep out of Yuendumu and Alice. Not one local I spoke to had a good word for him and attitude to women.

I think at this point we'd be better off turning our attention elsewhere. I would love for the fairy story to happen, but reality says that, as OD says, he will struggle to stay clean. I say if we want to go down the path of freak talent we look fora younger model.

Warren Dean, David Schwartz, Brad Hall, Leigh Newton, Luke Molan etc

It was Blease against St Kilda in round 20, 2012 during contract signing season. Kicked 5 straight. Done SFA before that game and SFA ever since. I hope he doesn't get the same chance again.

14.2 sounds good on paper but his defensive acts and tackle count was low.

We don't need players who just kick goal after goal.

when he learns to butcher the ball, we might consider him biffo

No platypus on the back of his head, as Davey called it. Will be interested to see if he can keep it up and obides by the court requirements. Might make it interesting at draft time. Can't see it happening, but he is still only 25.

14 goals from 16 shots sounds pretty good to me. On song.

Oh for god sake , we talk about bad picks and mistakes the club has made in the past. Yes Jurrah was a freak but it was nothing to do with bad luck it was a bad pick plain and simple.

Harsh yes maybe but at the end of the day it was Jurrah taken over Rockliff

Move on he is not for AFL anymore

Allen Jakovich - Back

David Schwarz - Knees

Gary Lyon - Back

A bit depressing really.

Gut wrenching to think this young man couldn't use his supreme talents to help himself.

He could have been anything. Sigh.

I'd have Liam back as a rookie if he came down and asked to play with us again.

In a heart beat. Ain't you folk seem the Hustler, our Liam's got character now.

Knowing whats involved, if he wanted to come back... Wow!

In a heartbeat.

Gut wrenching sums it up pretty well.
