Well if my boss carried on like that to me in front of others I'd be putting forward a complaint of bullying. It was very unprofessional and a fast way to get a lot of his players offside.

One of the basic fundamental rules of managing people is that you give criticism behind closed doors.

He just went nuts on his ruckman Witts at the interchange bench after he didn't go hard enough in a marking contest. It's at the end of this 30 second clip.

Hopefully Bucks knows whether Witts is the kind of player who responds to treatment like that. I know I would much prefer to be told what I did wrong, and what to do next time. Maybe Witts just needs a kick in the arse, and maybe Bucks knew that.

witts responded. he played better and kicked 2 goals. Maybe some players can handle that and respond to it. While for others it just crumbles them.

But yeah it wasnt a good look and I guess it was a build up of frustration from bucks.

For me, the verbal spray isn't the issue. It is the putting the hands on the player (grabbing the jumper) that is.

Why?

He didn't attack him, didn't assault him and didn't threaten him.

If a footballer can't handle that then it's time for the boy to walk away from a game of men.

It was a coach getting stuck into a player. You wouldn't have had a problem if Ron barrassi did it.

Really IMO nothing wrong with what he did, gave the player a good serve for not going hard enough. Sometimes you have to draw the line and the basic rules of management is not everything relating to criticism has to be done behind closed doors

The rule is about being flexible different players respond to different methods.
