Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Can someone please point me to an actual statement from Frawley ... direct from the horse's mouth ... that says 1. He wants $700-800,000 and 2. He wants 7 years?

All I've seen on these figures is 'reported'. They come from the likes of journalists like Barrett, who we are prepared to dismiss one moment as comically inept, yet apparently accept in the next moment as telling the truth.

Frawley is quite within his rights to take the free agency position that he wants to maximise his value, his future and his income.

He may stay or he may go, but the vindictive utterings here, based solely on supporter impatience and feelings of 'required loyalty', are really becoming annoying and disrespectful.

I need to stress again that I see Frawleys flaws.

I don't believe he is worth anywhere near $800K a year

Certainly not worth $800K for 7 years.

I believe if we get pick 5 or thereabouts we COULD come out in front.

I believe he has probably made up his mind to go.

However - he is NOT a passenger of the highest order. He is NOT playing for himself. He does NOT look like his mind is elsewhere. In fact his contribution this year has been far and away better than the last two years.

read Scoop Juniors analysis (post 1017) of Frawleys game - absolutely nailed it.

I doubt Gary Lyon would be so specific about the demands if they weren't true. The Frawley camp could also make a statement of denial.

He is a good player and I would prefer him to stay but he really does seem to be trying it on and doing his cause no good. Perhaps he's not getting good advice but I think the clubs good will is wearing thin.

The other thing is perhaps a team like GWS has offered him 7 years, we and other teams are around the 4 mark and he is hoping to split the middle, his management would care about nothing other than getting their client the best possible deal and GWS seriously rate Chip

Agree with this entirely.

This comment did however come from the horses mouth.

"I'm new to it, so I'm going to cop it for a couple of years and I'm trying to focus on footy and trying to play the best footy I can."

What are people's thoughts on the first half of this statement?

He wont be missed

A top 5 pick will be massive overs for him

Huge win for the MFC

Why are you certain he'll deliver us a top 5 pick then? If he won't be missed by the bottom 2 side, why would we get band 1 compo for him? I'm not saying we won't, but the amount of DLers who have said he won't be missed is ridiculous. He will be missed. We might get a good deal for him, but our backline will be weaker for it.

I'd be pretty surprised if we didn't get band 1, simply because he would be missed, the contract signed and age of the player come into account so 4 years at $500 for a 25 year old former all Australian defender is a big hole, but then if the panel feel we don't receive the compo we should they can recommend a different band, so i reckon they will understand a senior player and a leader is a huge loss for us and push it to band 1.

The people getting stuck into him are so hypercritical and contradictive that they cannot be taken seriously.

The things he says just make me cringe.

He's a seriously dumb bloke and it's getting on my nerves.

Again, he could have held back on certain things in that interview, but no, he prefers to speak before he thinks.

Please leave Frawley. If you haven't decided by now, then I have no faith that you'll help turn this club round.

He's a passenger of the highest order. Give me the PP.

There are so many things wrong with this post, but I'll just pick one. What's a PP? Is it a priority pick?

If so, I think that sums up perfectly how seriously people should take your argument.

well with roosy basically saying his manager and james dont want to sit down to hear what melbourne has to offer yet makes me think he will be gone. If he goes to hawthorn or geelong i understand but if he goes to gws i will be disappointed. If sydney get him i will be angry

If they're refusing to even hear us out, it probably only means one thing. Frawley and his management are going to assess every offer from other clubs and Frawley will decide on his preferred option. They'll then take that to the MFC and tell them to add probably $100k and an extra year on top of that as incentive for him to stay.

Can't imagine any other reason they'd be refusing to even listen to what we have to offer, unless he knows he's getting more elsewhere (entirely likely, because we won't pay overs when the compensation is this good.)

I doubt Gary Lyon knows much at all, he spends too much time with Barrett. I loved him as a player but his involvement with the club post playing career has been nothing short of abominable.

I doubt Frawley knows much at all either.

He and his manager have decided to make the decision after the season, and I think Frawley would currently be blissfully ignorant as his manager runs around making all sorts of insane demands to see what he can get for his client.

I honestly believe making a decision at season's end is in Frawley's best interests, and that it is what he is honestly going to do.

It's the best way for him to make a fully informed decision, and while it might be a selfish decision, so it should be.

While he is currently playing an important structural role for us as that mobile marking tall forward, and clearly a KPP that can play forward and back is a really important component of the side, there are a few factors that go the other way.

These factors are that one we have decent coverage in the key defender stakes (T Mac, Dunn and Garland - though if Frawley goes I would be looking at bringing in another developing key back), two that Hogan will hopefully be able to play that mobile marking role and three that Frawley undoes a lot of his good work in getting the ball with his ball use.

Sunday's game was the perfect example of him playing a really important structural role as a forward yet undoing his work with two missed set shots and a failure to regularly create scoring opportunities with his delivery.

If you said to me four years ago that he would leave, I would probably have rated it as a disaster for the club. I don't think it would be now for the reasons outlined above (plus the potential compensation of a top 5 draft pick).

I agree If in 2013 another club had come to the MFC with a very good offer for him that envolved a good midfielder as a swap the MFC would have moved him on IMO.

His first responsibilty is to get the best for himself.

If that is at the MFC well good but if not take it JF.

Especially if he's essentially condemning himself to a career without playing finals.

And as impressive as Roos has been in making us play a more sustainable gamestyle, we still only have 4 wins on the board.

Frawley has every right to let the season play out and see for himself if he truly believes he has a chance of playing finals in the near future with MFC.

In his position, I'd do the same.

And bugger the wishes of supporters who only have their own self interests at heart anyway.

Whats wrong with listening to our offer and then saying something like "thanks, I'll think about it and let you know at end of the season"? Surely the club would have been in a position to present him our best offer long ago. Makes no business sense to not try to know where he stands with us. He appears to be doing his best to drive a wedge between himself and the club. If true he is refusing to even listen to the clubs position it surely means he is gone IMO. Edited by america de cali

What would be the point of that?

And how does it effect the club or us as supporters if we still won't have an answer until the season ends?

Seriously, some people will try to turn any course of action into a criticism, short of him actually signing.

Due to blind ignorance or mischievousness, it doesn't matter.

You may think it is designed as wedge but to me it is simple business practice.

When I am looking at my options for business, the incumbents are the last I talk to as I already have them on board and I know my current $ and terms position with them. So Frawley's management rightly would go out and talk to the interested party's and get the lay of the land. I would talk to the MFC last when I know I want to stay but I want them to at least match what is being offered.

I say bugger the wishes of supporters who are cool with him changing his tune during the season and consistently spitting out substance-less dribble in an attempt to make himself look like a person of integrity and loyalty etc.

Have you listened to any interviews of his Machsy? Or are your responses purely based on your irritation of what others' thoughts are on the situation?

For the one-hundredth time, if he'd said from the start 'I'm putting contract talks on hold and will decide on my future with the MFC at season's end' and then shutup about it for the rest of the year then myself and others wouldn't mind as much.

But he HASN'T done that and he's said some things that in my opinion were thoughtless and pathetic.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
