How many unrestricted free agents that have said: I will leave my decision if I stay or go till seasons end.Tthen re-signed with that club?

None that I can think off.

I am 99% sure he is gone at seasons end, same as all the others who have played this "waiting game"

I hope he stays. We have become a FA feeder club in recent times for obvious reasons. Now it's time for it to stop. We are on the improve and good loyal players like Dunn are showing the way.

If he goes I hope we get decent compensation or I will be [censored].

End of rant.

Cloke.

Boak did something similar but I don't think he was a free agent.

Don't disagree with any of this, but unlike others you are not allowing what we as supporters feel very uncomfortable about regarding his contract, with how he is actually playing.

I have always felt very uncomfortable with FA. It's a killer for the poorer clubs and will remain so in its current format. His contract was front ended I believe and this may affect the compensation we would receive for him.

Your a fan of his from my readings here. Trust me I hope he stays. He is a good footballer for us. He will be a very good footballer in a very good team. AFL is about team and ours has be so bad for so long. For me our biggest asset is also a liability in that we have one of the best coaches you could possible get in Roos. I just wish all this 2 years 3 years then a successor will resolve itself soon. 5 years plus sounds good to me. :)

I think Frawleys kicking is average. Many here question his decision making, but some of that is about what other team mates should be but are not doing off the ball at times.

He plays his best football in defence, no brainer there.

Still reckon Frawley is in our best 10-12 players, and we need all of them to stick around. He smashed Jones today and looked good down back with some nice dash. Can't think of a player who didn't stuff something today, Frawley did also.

Would much prefer he stay than go, would say some great things about us as a club. Sadly I reckon he will play round 1 next year at full back on gunston for the Cats.

I've been in the keep him camp until today I thought some of his lapses cost us the game and when the ball went through his legs it was embarrassing. Terlich got clean bowled too, how can that happen to AFL footballers.

And the shank of Vince and the poor handball of Jones that coughed up goals. Yet we only get stuck into the whipping boys.

I think you answered your own question in a way - it doesn't happen to AFL-calibre footballers...

I thought he was good today, provided run and had a few choice intercept marks, but I was thinking while he was back there that Dunn was getting less footy due to his presence - and with Dunn so superior to Frawley ball in hand it hurt our rebound. And Garland has no touch, he is making simple errors he hasn't made for 3 years.

But let's not kid around - if we had displayed basic skill execution in the first quarter we would not have lost that game.

But kudos to the Dogs - they have some good kids.

Perhaps that's because this is a thread about Frawley.

There were plenty of poor decisions made by our players today and perhaps we should start a thread about each player.

He was excellent for the first three quarters, completely shut out a player who has been average at best all season.

His last quarter was terrible and finished with his young inexperienced opponent kicking the final two goals through rudimentary mistakes.

If he wants to see where this club is heading before making up his mind, he should accept he is as much a part of the problem as anyone involved.

Our experienced leaders should not be making these errors, especially one who wants the kind of money he is looking for.

Isn't that his prerogative? Much like Frawley's.

Just acting on sound advice, most would say.

Bontempelli should give Frawley half of his goal of the year prize

What a pathetic effort , had 2 chances to clear the ball and was completely useless and basically handed them the goal

If we get a top 5 pick for Frawley we will be overcompensated thats for sure

You like stirring the pot, don't you, HH?

Frawley destroyed Liam Jones today. When your opponent gets subbed off you've done your job.

the problem with this adjudication is it assumes a one sided roe for the player. This doesnt exist any more. How many times do we hear the emphasis on players up and down, or defensive as well as offensive etc. Works other way too. Offensive as well as Defensive.Chips defensive game is largely brilliant. His proactiveness into a forward thrust style of passage of play often gets the ball returning quick smart....or stuffed up. A lot of his passing land the supposed recipient a booking at the inpatients !!!

And yet you mentioned Terlich ! There were plenty of errors made out on the ground that shouldn't be made.

The constant bashing of Frawley is doing my head in ( not by you) . I have no problem on a emotional level on those that wish to bash him over the contract negotiations - we want all players to be loyal and sign up on the clubs timnetable - not the players. But the bagging of his form is purely motivated or clouded by his reluctance to re-sign (or because he is already gone) and is just not an accurate portrayal of how he has played this year.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo

    WELCOME 2024 by Meggs

It’s been hard to miss the seismic global momentum happening in Women’s sport of late. The Matildas have been playing to record sell-out crowds across Australia and ‘Mary Fowler is God’ is chalked onto footpaths everywhere. WNBA basketball rookie sensation Caitlin Clark has almost single-handedly elevated her Indiana Fever team to unprecedented viewership, attendances and playoffs in the USA.   Our female Aussie Paris 2024 Olympians won 13 out of Australia’s all-time record 18 gol

    EPILOGUE by Whispering Jack

I sit huddled in near darkness, the only light coming through flickering embers in a damp fireplace, the room in total silence after the thunderstorm died. I wonder if they bothered to restart the game.  No point really. It was over before it started. The team’s five star generals in defence and midfield ruled out of the fray, a few others missing in action against superior enemy firepower and too few left to fly the flag for the field marshal defiantly leading his outnumbered army int
