Would we have another dig at Tom Rockliff?

Posted

No. Would be the hypocrite of the century if he left the Lions now. No chance of him leaving.

He enteretained the idea enough to meet with Roosy less than 12 months ago so clearly he isn't totally against it

and we learned from landing roosy in the first place that just because it isn't likely doesn't make it impossible, always worth a phone call

That was last year. He has since had a crack at all the people that left and said he is Brisbane to the core. I know Roos makes things better in the trade period but Rockliff isn't coming now and the Lions won't trade him.

again, we said that about Roos, and we landed him, i seriously doubt they will hesitate to make a phone call again

what's Scott Selwoods contract status?

I could honestly have said that he has a 20 year contract there and has said every day for 3 years he will never leave and you would still have this belief that, because he considered us last year, that he will do so again.

I'd love Rockliff at Melbourne, who wouldn't, but he re-committed to the Lions, signed a new deal and told everyone how behind the club he is. We might call, and we will rightly be told to nick off. No chance.

How did we get Vince and Tyson. Use the same formula ...

1. use our 2nd round choice for a ready made player such as mfc pick 24 for Andy Otten & crows pick 49ish

2. grab a young player that has not quite been given the opportunity, such as Jono O'Rourke

There is a reason the AFL give clubs draft penalties and a reason why those clubs are trying to trade back into the draft. It is important we always bring in new talent (or we pay a huge penalty in a couple of years) and we have traded to many of these picks over the last few years. Clark, Dawes, Vince. The Tyson trade was good as we got one new and one demonstrator model, Clark was a bust, Dawes is a battler on field and Vince was a good trade up for Silvia.

If we can get Petracca or McCartin then we should take them. Players like O'Rourke are not worth an early pick.

IIRC Scott Selwood's OOC at the end of next season. Part of next years bumper free agent crop.

Watching the game tonight, love Rory Sloanes effort and skills. Wish we could get him.

Brodie Smith really caught my eye, sets up alot of plays

Can't see him moving but

Hard to fathom how the Crowes lost that game. They have a great midfield plus Brodie Smith and good forwards.

Watching tonights game I hear about throwing money at Dangerfield yes great player but throw a big contract and a fair amount of cash at Crouch, 2nd week back from injury 2nd year player he is all class fantastic accumulator with clean hands, awareness in traffic and going to be a clearance king

No way they'd let Crouch part, they didn't get his brother for nothing. They're both to set up their future. Dangerfield, I'd throw everything and more for him.

I would give up our first pick for him in a straight swap and that still wouldn't get the job done. They are both good but I see potentially a better addition in Crouch

Toumpas for ports first rounder?

He has started slow but is talanted and contracted

Yeah, maybe. Wouldn't mind going after Andrew Moore.

Read his bio on port's webpage. Tall, well built, pace and decent disposal. He's ready to go, just what our midfield needs.

    TRAINING: Wednesday 19th February 2025

Demonlander The Analyser was the sole Trackwatcher out at Casey Fields today to bring you the following observations from this mornings preseason training session. Training  was at Casey today. It consisted of a match simulation for one half  and then a free choice activity time. Activities included kicking for goal,  aerial , contest work etc. I noticed the following players not in match simulation Jack Viney  running laps and looks fine for round one . I think Kolt looks like he’s im

    TRAINING: Wednesday 12th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. Firstly the bad news - McVee went down late, which does look like a bad hammy - towards the end of match sim, as he kicked the ball. Had to

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

    TRAINING: Wednesday 5th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
