Frustrating isn't it in fact Garlo told a mate of mine at the Casey game last Sunday that he expected to be running around this week.

Erring on the side of caution it seems.

Very frustrating considering the club stated on 18th March - Col Garland (ankle) 2-3 weeks away. Af as I recall we have not been informed of any set back or problems as early as this Tuesday.

Exactly, nothing on twitter, news print or any of the footy sites to indicate where Col is at.

We are not alone on this. For example Deledio was fine at training, then would miss one week, now misses another and yesterday he said he was now unsure of when he would return. Kreuzer had a similar story, starting with he was fine and ending with 12-14 weeks out and an operation.

Clearly injuries are a very inexact science.

The ebb tide surely - another injury, to Michie this time...and Hogan still a helluva way off, Clark retired.

Not exactly great news.

That's a bit pessimistic... Give or take a week or two, we've got Jamar, Garland, Gawn and Dawes back or close to back, which quite outweighs one broken jaw to a fringe midfielder.

Surely we know by now - whatever Misso tells us, double it.

With the MFC list effectively reduced to 43 (including 4 rookies), we now have an injury list of only 5:-

Jesse Hogan

Colin Garland

Viv Michie

Luke Tapscott

Max Gawn

There's a chance that three of this list will be right to play VFL next week so, fingers crossed, we're getting close to our best position injury-wise in a long time.

It's early but the HUN Barometer has it

MELBOURNE

INJURIES

Jesse Hogan (back) 2-3 weeks

Max Gawn (hamstring) test

Viv Michie (jaw) 3 weeks

Colin Garland (ankle) test

ON THE BLOCK: After Melbourne’s first win for the season it’s hard to see Paul Roos making any major changes for the game against Gold Coast on Sunday afternoon. Dean Terlich has been down in form over the past two weeks and so has Bernie Vince, but they were two of Melbourne’s best in the pre-season. Jeremy Howe is still not yet his usual self, but we saw glimpses of his aerial skills on the weekend and only needs a few touches to have an impact.

ON THE CUSP: Mark Jamar played his second game at VFL level on the weekend and, form permitting, he won’t be too far off returning to the senior team. Jack Trengove wasn’t among Casey’s very best players on the weekend, but it’s only a matter of time before he returns to AFL level. The form player at Casey is rookie Neville Jetta, but he will have to bide his time on the rookie list for now. The Demons are starting to get their full team on the park and Jesse Hogan is 2-3 weeks away, having resumed running in the past 10 days.

ADAM BALDWIN’S FORECAST: There is nothing like a win to restore hope and happiness to a football club. Jack Viney admitted on radio this morning the players felt like they had gone backwards following the Round 1 thumping from West Coast and the win over Carlton will be a huge boost to the confidence of the players in Paul Roos’ game plan. They must build on this momentum and Gold Coast at the MCG will be another challenge. Chris Dawes straightened the side up on the weekend and with almost a full complement of players available, we should start to get a better idea of where the Demons are at.

Anyone know why trengove had scans today

ASADA deep investigation?

Has anyone seen and or spoken to Max Gawn? Or have any idea of his injury and its progress ?

I also heard he had scans yesterday for an on going groin problem.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
