Frawley wants to know...

As stated earlier, these days it is about being a professional footballer. Most who are drafted don't make it to 50 games. If your job had the potential for such a limited tenure, would you not try and maximise your earning potential? Being a football player is Chippers job, not a weekend pastime.

He has every right to explore his career opportunities. That said, he is a loyal servant of the club to this point in time and has right to expect his employer to provide him with some incentive, over and above money, to keep doing his job with the same employer. Unlike other naysayers, I believe that will happen. Chip does not need us to be knocking on the door of the 8 in 2014, he's just looking for the club to be clearly heading in a positive direction. If that happens and I reckon it will this year, Chip stays in my opinion.

Improvement has never been so important. Look at what's happened at port Adelaide. Basket cases with their now captain almost leaving and now after 1 years success the players are clambering over each other to sign on. Wines said he was working on his new contract now. Fortunes can change very quickly. Let's hope they do for the dees

At this stage I would temper my concern. This is the way of Free Agency. But if rumours appear and they won't go away and get bigger like with TS then I might look at it differently. Melbourne is still an unknown quantity this season and it appears we have reached the end of the dark ages. If the same admin and coach as then were around he would be front of the queue to leave for sure. But I get the vibe he means what he says unlike listening and reading what TS said.

What advantage another draft pick, there's no advantage for free agency when your a poorly run club.

the MFC WAS a poorly run club. I do not see it that way now.

Good recruiting always allows for advantage.

As a leader, he should be wanting to drive the change, not waiting to see if it happens.

100% correct, the only post on this topic that makes sense.

Have to agree with this, anyone with eyes has seen how unhappy he has looked in the last 2 years. It has affected his performance along with the never ending rain of sherrins on his head.

I think two things will decide if he stays, an overall improvement and his relationship with Roos.

I think there is no doubt Roos is with us for the 3 years now and once his family is settled in Melbourne we might find he is prepared to stay a bit longer.

If Chippa is smiling by round 7 or so then we are a good chance.

your easily pleased, it's going to take more than 5 months work before I will admit that it's a well run club.

He could attempt to drive change and still quite reasonably wait to see if he succeeded.

i am not easily pleased at all. A lot of work needs to be done. But i can see the right people are steering the ship.

PJ is the best recruit we have had since R Flower.

He knows the game of big business.

No, he comprehended it just fine. Moloney was not offered a contract so it makes your 'he also left after supposedly bleeding red and blue' refrain rather moot.

Well, we aim to be well run don't we?

And since you are using the present tense - are we not 'well run' now?

Decisions surrounding trades and draft picks are rarely accurately judged until years after the fact. But I am quietly confident about the Tyson deal, and I am loudly confident about the Hogan/Viney deal.

Fancy not offering Moloney a contract then offering Rodan , Pederson and Gillies contracts , no wonder this board is always full of these type of threads, the damage Bailey , Neeld and Schwab created may never be repaired, I see Brocks in the leadership group at the Blues, FMD they better get it right in the next 3 years or we won't be part of the next broadcasting deal.

Look, it's pretty simple...

Someone quoted Frawley saying he "bleeds red and blue" and loves being a leader at the club, so they think that means there's no chance he'll leave.

Moloney said those exact things and ended up leaving.

The end.

We're not talking about their different motivations, we're talking about someone saying because Frawley made those comments he won't leave, which is rubbish, and I provided a pretty clear cut example of why.

Agree.

We will have reached the end of the dark ages once we start winning with some consistency and there's a genuine positivity about the place. That's when he'll sign with us.

If it happens...

Ughhhh... it's not that hard a point to get, yet some of you are really making a meal of it...

Scully also said he wanted to stay, then left... Is that an easier example for you to digest?

People just seem to get so confused about simple points anytime Moloney is brought up.

Thank you for showing us the way Stuie. Don't know what we'd do without your guidance. You should be a primary mod. Lol!

Neeld said the wheel can turn quickly.

This year I reckon he'll feel vindicated.

Stuey it is simple

Scully was a different case new team uncontratced player, they paid overs no team will offer that to Frawley

Maloney was different as the footy department felt he was surplus to requirements

Frawley is very much a required player

Again I am not confused, I and others who have commented know exactly what we are saying

Seriously? Ok, one last time just for you... You're making a different to point to what I was making.

My point was that saying he "bleeds red and blue" and wants to be a leader does in no way mean he'll stay.

You're right, it is simple, but for some reason you can't seem to understand it.

You are trying to make it simple to fit your point.

It doesn't fit. Move on.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
