Yes, Georgiou should come in as a Clark replacement... I wonder if this means Jetta will get a spot until Riley is back?... can't imagine King being thrown to the wolves just yet.

We don't have to upgrade a rookie when putting a player on the LTI.

I doubt anyone will be elevated until they earn selection.

It just makes it a possibility for any of them to get a chance.

For the record, i was actually behind Stuie with all of this, and thought (and still do) he had valid reason behind his arguments, which were perhaps lampooned due to him being Demonlands 'bad guy' of sorts.

But never the less, it's all gone on too long so let's return to the footy talk.

This virtually cements Georgiou a spot on the list, and here's hoping Fitzy continues to make good progress, although he still reminds me of a wounded baby giraffe as he gallivants around the footy field at times.

Fitzy's still young, & has yet to be 'Blooded', as it were. he needs his first 'Kill'.

Dear Mr Clark,

We don't know each other, but through both your fantastic photographs and your courageous performance on the football field I can tell that you are someone worth meeting. I envy those who have had the opportunity to do so, and I hope I get the same priviledge in the future.

I understand that you have returned to Western Australia in the wake of yet another in a series of frustrating soft tissue injuries, and I'm sure you must be questioning whether all the work you've put in at the Melbourne Football Club has been for naught. Let me say as a supporter that it most certainly has not. In a dark time for the club, your example both on and off the field has been a shining light for not only me and over two-hundred thousand other Melbourne supporters, but indeed for all football enthusiasts.

Whether you have lost your passion for the game and are counting the days until your sporting commitments are over; or whether you are frustrated not to be playing and wish you could be out there against St Kilda next week, please know that I and all those who have been lucky enough to watch you play and to see your work behind the camera are both envious and awestruck by your talent and commitment.

Yours,
Chook

(a Melbourne supporter and photography enthusiast)

This was meant to be a completely different thread to leave supportive messages for one of our players, but the usual dh's have tried to derail it, and a few more have either missed or ignored the point. Clearly you don't understand the idea of this thread either so maybe just post in the other one.

Although I agree we should wish Mitch all the best, there is a lot of referring to what this thread was meant to be about. But take a look the heading.

All about Mitch Clark

Based on the title I can understand other things being discussed. Perhaps a rename like "Best wishes to Mitch Clark"

does anyone actually know what his personal health issues are? Are we talking drugs or depression or what?

None of our business frankly. It is enough that the club have given him time off to help him.

If anyone does know please do not post.

To be honest I don't care suffice to say he is out for whatever reason and contributing BA.

Now he would probably be out with leg issues anyway so probably does not matter.

However you can be sure that someone in the media will enlighten us before too many more days have past.

There was originally two different threads ManDee. One called "Mitch Clark and his foot" and one called "We love ya Mitch". Different purposes, they were merged.

from what i hear he doesn't actually have any mental health issues as such. his partner was extremely homesick and has moved back home. i first heard Mitch was also homesick shortly after he did his hammy prior to xmas……his injury toll was really contributing to this. If he did a calf in recent times, it may have been the final straw.

he may well come back and play for us at some stage, but i think we would be better off assuming he won't.

I am more than happy for him to go back to WA D16

all we need to do is arrange a termination of the contract.

That way in 2015 we have some salary saying and spot on the list.

Easy to say maybe harder to achieve.

Well that would be a good thing. Homesickness, partner moving or not moving (she studies at Monash Uni, maybe she couldn't stand the thought of another year of uni) it's better if it's just feeling sick of it all rather than actually mental illness. Even if there's a fine line there.

Doesn't necessarily help us too much but so be it. Either way if Clark wants to move back to WA he'll have to forgo the final year of his contract and arrange a trade or delist himself and that would make all these people who whinge so much about the money and salary cap happy.

Get his mind sorted even if his priority is to leave and his body might start fixing itself. A bit of mind over matter. Then when he comes back to the club (and presuming he does at some point) then he can at least be classed as a football commodity.

Took me a while to work that one out. But now WC have what I think is a very good young coach who's much better than a passed his use by date I certainly don't think we are getting Shuey.

Can you imagine free agent David Mundy turning down not only Freo but all the high powered Victorian clubs to sign with us. Yeah me nether but it would be nice.

if he is a 26-year-old millionaire professional sportsman and the reason is 'homesickness' I might have to take exception

Surely if he is just walking away from the club for 'personal reason' that constitutes a breach of contract?

Normally when someone gets paid they are actually expected to play the game occasionally

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
