Came 3rd in Norwoods B&F this year, and also won their club award for "outstanding leadership and service".

Yes! Excellent rookie choice even if I do say so myself. I suggested Georgiou in a thread on 6 October after the SANFL GF.

"PS Cooling on Aish. He's top 10 but not #2 pick. Dumont is at least as good. Georgiou would be a sensible "moneyball" defender."

Best defender in the SANFL; looks uncoordinated but gets the job done every time; plays taller than his size. Yes, Norwood has been good to the MFC

Have seen him play in the flesh a couple of times on visits back to Adelaide. Strikes me as being a tough nut - rough as guts in some respects but never takes a backward step. Get the impression he could pick a fight in an empty room. And the Bassett culture at Norwood wouldnt do him any harm either - defensive side of his game will be first rate.

His highlights video is on the AFL website still from the ND.

He might be a useful negating defender, but I do not like the look of the ball in his hands.

Has no idea what to do with it when there were clear options, very average disposal, definitely has the potential to run himself into trouble or sell teammates into it.

These are meant to be "highlights" no less!

I would be appalled if Georgiou were to be upgraded and play an AFL match.

I agree with his skill. It will be found out at AFL level easily. His kicks often look lazy and his handballs spin like Cale Morton's used to. I trust our recruiting fully however I believe they may have made an error here. Happy to be proven wrong though.

You can't pat yourself on the back so I;ll do it for you. Well done!

I went to school with Georgiou, year above. As many have pointed out his disposal is unconventional but it gets the job done. I haven't seen him play in a fair few years but he was a decent A Grader in the HFL.

He'd play above his height as he was pretty tall in high school and this would have given his play some confidence. His personality should be a great fit for the club, he was a popular kid but didn't get into too much trouble, always a bit more serious than the others and does have strong leadership qualities.

Keen to watch him run around.

He makes Tom McDonald look skilfull!

Going by the various descriptions,

he could end up being our Inspector Gadget

Spot on, that's the way he plays, that's the way he runs.

I must say im a bit disappointed in this pick.. I know its only a rookie draft but would much rather have gone for Matt Sully.

His disposal is very ordinary and even if he plays tall when he comes up against the bigger forwards I just don't think he will be much chop..

anyways I will watch with interest.

Agree.

I would have rathered gone with Sully, Fort or Spencer. But I hope he proves me wrong.

If you are looking for depth for 2014 do you pick the undersized 24 year old who has spent a few years at FB in the SANFL and can do a job instantly or do you pick the 20/21 year old who needs work, and a few years, to be considered good 'depth'?

If I was to pick 'depth' players, I would choose 23+ year olds and I would use the RD.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the

We'll break down the Match SIM against North Melbourne and wrap up the preseason with insights into training and our latest recruits. I apologize for skipping our annual season review show at the end of last season. After a disapponting season filled with off-field antics and a heated trade week, I needed a break. Thankfully, the offseason has recharged me, and I’m back—ready t
