AFL NATIONAL DRAFT - Pick 9

What

Recommended Posts

Just watched KK highlights. Got a lethal kick on him! Wouldn't be upset if we nabbed him. Could see him playing on a wing straight away.

Wing/switching to half back. I love this kid I have made my mind up but I'm not a recruiter.

I would put money on Collingwood taken Bontempelli or Freeman. I belevie they will take Freeman now they have pick 6.

Taking Dom Sheed at pick 9 would be nice coup and also stick it up up WCE. He would be good fit for us.

Would probably make more sense for the Pies to grab Freeman at 6 as Bontempelli still likely to be there for them at 9 - although it was reported they were keen on Lennon too.

Machsy and Dees2014,

What is it about Lennon that you like for you to have have him ahead of Nathan Freeman? I only ask because of the 3, i wouldn't mind one of Freeman, Lennon or KK come our pick 9 (in that order).

Lennon has several attributes the other mid fielders in the draft don't have:

  1. he is taller than most of them (188cm) and is an excellent overhead mark
  2. good in traffic and hard at the ball, but good outside as well as well as having very quick hands and is quite quick for a tall man
  3. is an excellent set shot for goal as well as a long accurate kick
  4. is building an engine to become an elite mid fielder, but at the moment is a specialist HFF.

I think he would be perfect for us

Lennon looks exceptional.

I agree. I've seen a fair bit of him this year and he has steadily improved. As has dal's cousin.

The thing with this year's crop of youngsters is so many of them have good and bad traits in the way they play. I think that development is going to be more important than ever. I am grateful that we have George Stone.

Care to share what weaknesses you think certain players have?

I'm genuinely interested.

Sheed, Crouch and Dunstan are all pretty one paced, not that it's a problem, there are some very good one paced players out there but ii think we desperately need some outside run and skill.

I always thought Jobe Watson was too slow and one paced until he won a Brownlow - we could use someone like him right now.

I think Sheed might be one of those in the sneaky quick category, where he looks slow & laconic to the eye, but the reports are that he hardly ever gets caught with the ball.

Lennon... Oh dear god Roosy just do it!

Really impressed with Salem, KK and Sheed.

The top 8 to 10 mids look great and honestly I think the thing we should look at when selecting pick 9 is attitude... Take watts for example, has all the skills but his deficiency is between the ears.

I agree, those players are exceptional, all of them.

If Billings slides, perhaps take him, otherwise either one of the players you mentioned would be a dream result.

From the videos I liked Sheed the best. He'll play most games next year and won't look out of place. He's a cross between Wayne Schwass and Luke Hodge.

I'd be happy with him or Freeman. The latter suits us more, but I wouldn't be unhappy to have Hogan's mate at the club. Might help in more ways than one.

Hodge was much better by foot during his junior days - than Sheed is.

But I think it's still the most accurate comparison for Sheed.

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
