Tom Rockliff

This is an interesting one because it is more than rumour, twitter feed from some twit, or an anonymous "my brother's sister's boyfriend's doctor's aunt" Facebook post. Rawlings is seen up there on MFC official business.

I havent seen anyone confirm that Rawlings was seen up in brisbane on official MFC business

Unless he is desperate to move from Brisbane, Rockliff is mad to leave. Considering he is contracted I cannot see the Lions letting go of their midfield gun who has 3 year's work in him for anything less than picks 1 - 4.

Two things in our favour.

He knows Jade Rawlings

He would respect Paul Roos (and if the dislocation between Voss and players is real, this is a big plus for us)

It isn't anymore than a rumour... someones 'mate' saw him getting on a plane.

We've heard that one before with Roosy jetting off to Perth.

Wouldn't it be more plausible that if Rawlings was really going up there it was to see one of the young players out of contract looking to come back to Vic than the contracted Tom Rockliff?

Would do pick 2 for him any day of the week though.

What's more plausible IMO is he is having a few days R&R in QLD before the trading season gets under way!

True, except he had a folder with a Melbourne logo on it...had to be on business...surely...

No he wanted to throw the rumor mongers off track while Roos works away in a different state!

He was definitely at the airport - in Melbourne. Where was he going to? How credible that he was seen in Brisbane?

The fact we aren't into a lot of the bigger names that are floating around makes me think we have our eye on a few other players, perhaps Rockliff is one, I really hope he is,

i'd offer pick 2 and Fitzpatrick for Rockliff and pick 7 if a trade was possible,

i'd also offer him 4 years at a big pay and the captaincy for 2014

Brisbane wouldn't give us Rockliff AND Pick 7 for Pick 2 and Fitzpatrick. That's a rubbish deal for Brisbane. Rockliff is worth a Pick 2 on his own. Fitzy isn't worth Pick 7.

And offering him the captaincy is just as silly. How would that make the others feel? Would splinter the group big time.

I don't see that being offered back maybe a 2nd round if we are lucky.......... Why would the Lions give up Rockliff (gun) and pick 7 (which you wouldn't give for fitz by hiimself) for pick 2??

makes no sense

I would be over the moon if we could get Rocky - but that deal wont' get him especially if the lions don't have to trade him

It was exactly that the moment Rawlings was spotted heading to Brisbane, with a Melbourne folder no less!!

Don't get me wrong, I'd love someone at Rockliff at the club as he would be a perfect fit for our midfield, but we would have to move heaven and earth to get him while he is still under contract. Giving up Pick 2 and an average big man to get Rockliff AND Pick 7 is so far off a decent deal it isn't funny, but that's this time of the year for you!

So how did we get Rockliff out of that?

The folder was emblazoned with the words operation rockliff top secret. Edited by dandeeman

Rockliff is 1 of 2 players I'd seriously consider trading pick 2 for at this stage, the other being Swallow.

I think it's too much for Sloane.

I'm biased though, cos I am a big fan of Aish and what I think he'll become.

As for Rockliff, I think he actually makes a lot of sense.

From Victoria, girlfriend is from Victoria (they are more often than not the driving force behind wanting to go home), the rumours of Rockliff being unhappy and wanting out, Alastair Lynch is a big fan of Rocky & close mates with Roos, is a fierce competitor and someone who lives for footy, Jade Rawlings & Mitch Clark have existing relationships with him, we'd have the cap space to pay him well, we have the pieces to trade for him...

A lot of things make sense there, except for why the Lions would let him go.

Tough for them if he wants to go home though.

Hadnt heard about the reports of Rawlings flying to Brisbane. Anyone know if its accurate?

I would cream my pants if we got Rockliff, holy [censored]\

Averages 27 touches, 5 tackles and polled 21 Brownlow votes

Oozes leadership, tough as nails

Would gladly give pick 2

But you said the rumour I put in the draft and rumour file was bs

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
