just got home from the prelim to find my MFC membership letter

it has Jesse Hogan photoshopped in a melbourne jumper alongside Viney, Grimes, Trengove, Jones and Frawley

seriously that is embarassing

also stiff to Garland, Jamar, Sylvia, Watts, Clark, Dawes, McKenzie, Howe even Terlich, Matt Jones and Tommy Mac, all of whom have earnt a spot before a bloke that has never put on the jumper

I know it is not a big deal, and that Hulky represents a type of potential we have not seen at the club in a very long time, but sheesh...

Didnt they learn there lesson last time they put a certain key forward all over our marketing and advertising..

Kid hasn't even played a game, yet we already have to put him on our membership advertisement.

you have to wonder how these sort of things come to pass.. who is making these decisions? hard to imagine this has Roosy's approval stamped on it

reeks of amateur hour

You guys drool all over him all year, get excited by him, talk about him, think he's something that gives up hope... then complain because his photo is on a letter. Wow.

I hope you go and rip his number off the back of all the little kids jumpers next year and then tell them there's no Santa.

We're looking to the future, as usual. Whether or not it will be different to the past, who knows.

I do know I'm looking forward to Hogans first game for the club though and I'm sure a lot of people are - that's our angle cos we ain't got much else right now, that's the brutal truth.

Keep him on there. He is a gun.

2004 membership card had pictures of Darren Jolly and Scott Thompson saying Melbourne demons the next generation...

Anyone see hogans first nab cup outing v north?

Anyone see that snap goal from the boundary and he didn't even celebrate it.

Arrogance and class!

How is NOT celebrating something "arrogance?" Last time I checked, it was called "humility" (i.e. the opposite of arrogance).

On the flip side cause we have been so successful over the last 7 years they need to create hope for the future (thats genuine hope cause we have had false hope for to long) along with Roos coming on board so this "potential" star will be plastered all over the Dees promos I would think.

When u ain't winning u have to sell (genuine) hope and Roos and Hulk help this cause.

I know they did it with watts but the difference between watts and hogan is that hogan is READY when does the odds come out for rising star next year lock him in

Hogan won't still be a high school kid come QB next year.

He'll have been out of school and playing against (and beating) men for 18 months by that time.

I can't for the life of me understand why anyone on here would cringe! All long suffering Melbourne supporters hope for a brighter future, and Jesse Hogan is an integral part of that hope. Smart marketing I reckon!

Plugger hardly ever celebrated after a goal and I'd hardly think he was humble.

It's not humility. It means you expect to do it and treat the feat accordingly.

The Dalai Lama wouldn't celebrate after kicking a goal no matter how unexpected it was. But I agree that you don't celebrate things you expect to do, so that could be a perfectly legitimate reason why Hogan didn't celebrate either.

That's my job. That's what I'm paid to do.

Not an issue yet but if they go to the lengths they did with Jack (welcome Jack Watts and the Melbourne Demons on to the MCG!), I will be concerned. This is for our eyes only and he is sharing the billing with a few other of the boys.

Jack Watts and QB it is not.

Did they seriously say that?

I have heard that was the case. Confirmation anyone?

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
