I asked you a couple of days ago how many times you'd seen Aish "live". You're yet to respond. Perhaps you can clear it up now.

I have little doubt that Aish will be able to improve his contested footy as he gets stronger, as will Toumpas. But I don't see either as "inside mids".

Toumpas is more a straight ahead player, who distributes the ball really well. He likes to get on the end of a chain of disposals and set up play. He could actually make a very good half-back, where he's played a fair bit of footy as a junior.

I haven't seen enough of Aish and certainly haven't seen him live, so I'm not well equipped to comment, but from what I have seen I believe he has more upside as an all-round mid than Toumpas.

FFS BH what point are you trying to prove in hijacking a thread about Toumpas by bringing in Aish Vs Toumpas comparisons?

This thread is basically about Toumpas showing gradual improvement next year and what a Paul Roos development could do for Toumpas

Go start Aish, Toumpas comparison thread if you want to discuss that. But for now im more interested in what people view Toumpas in 2014.

No need to squeal like a female pig. Threads evolve and I gave you an opinion on Toumpas.

I don't see the "inside mid" you do. He's more a straight running link player who uses the ball well.

Anyway, I'll leave you to your precious thread.

Thanks for clearing up your views on Aish, btw. Your opinion is as informed as mine, i.e useless.

Toumpas (along with Jack Watts) are two players you'd like with the ball in the middle looking up, and seeing Clarke, Hogan and Dawes streaming towards them...

BANG...

Big year for Jimmy in 2014.

What do male pigs squeal like BH? Did I miss something in AgSci 101?

I said he has the ability to play inside even though he is more a pure outside midfielder.

Good do us all a favour and take your precious little James Aish [censored] fest somewhere else.

This is about Jimmy Toumpas the Melbourne Fottball Club play not James Aish a Norwood SANFL player.

For your information I have watched Aish live once.

So as you say your opinion is as informed as mine. But instead of useless il say i.e Absolute dud

If Jim is any good Roos will extract it.

I was far from convinced this year, but it was a train wreck so i have erased all football emotions from 2013

We need him to be A GRADE...He was a high pick...They must count.

Yeah and where did I mention he will become a superstar?

all I said is I expect gradual improvement and I rate his leadership skills. And if you took the time read the thread properly I also mentioned that basically the 70 game mark is when we will start to see big strides in Jimmy.

You completely missed the point on this thread..

I'm not sure if you getting your knickers in a bunch AGAIN is over the Jurrah thread, but you need to stop taking everything so personally. My post wasn't directly addressed to you, it was a general comment about not pumping up a player's tyres too much so early in their career, as we have a tendency to do. Every time. If you disagree, fine, but there's no need for that response.

I was shocked at Viney and Neelds decision to recruit his son, Toumpas, Byrnes, Pedersen, Rodan, and the Gillenator, and leave Wines in the can.

Probably the worst decision ever, and we have made many, has left the club on the ropes.

I have not seen one frame from Toumpas to make me think otherwise.

Got absolutely nothing to do with the Jurrah thread and defiantly wasn't meant to be personal towards you.

Happy to say that I thought it was directed at me. But yes people gotta be careful with just calling him a star in the making or needs to be our star. I will be happy if he becomes a solid 200 game player for the MFC.

Cale Morton at pick 4 would surely be the worst decision consider the amount of gun players we overlooked..

But you cant completely write off Toumpas after his first year and say it was the ''worst decision of all time'' Seeing that would probably be the worst comment of demonland of all time.

Gun in the making. Prove me wrong.

For me the beauty of Toumpas is that he really WANTS to be a gun player. He has the desire and will put in the required effort to get there. Self driven.

He has shown no X factor, reminds me of a pick 60, making his way through the system, from day one you could see it in Travis and Robbie Flower, you have it or you don't.

Not something you find in a few years, ask Cale, Tappy, Bater, Little Tommy, Trengrove..

I have researched hard, hoped, watched replays, but it just isn't there.

Best of luck to the young lad, but it will take a miracle and then some.

I doubt that Toumpas will ever be a Robbie or Travis he will probably be a very serviceable player and that's about it, Robbie and Trav were exceptionally talented players.

Wtf, why are we mentioning Travis in the same breath as Robbie Flower? Travis was borderline AFL for his first four seasons, it wasn't until 2002 - his fifth season - that he pulled his finger out. Travis was lazy and set low standards for himself, I've got no doubt that Toumpas will be a more consistent player than Travis.

If anything at all, the only reason Travis may belong in this conversation is to prove that sometimes really talented kids take a while and that's why we shouldn't write them off early, as that was definitely true for Johnstone.

Agree! Two totally different mindsets Robbie and Travis. However, I think Jimmy's mindset is far closer to Robbie's than Travis's. Therefore success looms imminent for Jimmy imo.

Dunstan at pick 2 would be pretty bad.

poor comment.

Oly real comparisons here are Toumpas / viney or Wines. any one with half a foorball brain know that Bynes/pederson/rodan etc were nothing more than top up players. They were never recruited to make the club strnoger but merely to be ready to play when required.

The first time I saw Travis play I could see he had enormous talent, unfortunately he was just too lazy to achieve what he should have; he was nowhere the footballer that Robbie was but he had exceptional talent nonetheless.

Aish has agility in and around packs reminiscent of Cotchin.

I think he'll be an absolute gem, working on the inside and out with aplomb.

Edit: agree with you assessment of Toumpas.

He'll run in long straight lines and deliver the ball long into the forward line.

I think he'll be best-suited to the wing.

Not sure about how he'll go winning a lot of his own ball in his first few years, but he'll get there.

I see a bit in Toumpas unlike most of the scribes in this thread.

His first 5 or so games under Neeld were a complete write off. The kid had no idea what he was doing.

But under Craig I saw something. I saw a young player that had a bit of time before distribution of footy, I saw a mid that made some smart decisions, unlike most of the mfc turkeys that ran around.

If anyone watched the last game of the year v bulldogs they would've seen the most immaculate inside 50 pass from Toumpas to Dunn in that last qtr.

I honestly see something in Toumpas. I see a footballer that has an extra few seconds to distribute a nice possession.

I'm an unabashed fan of the thumper. Not since Jack Watts have I seen a bloke be so unmercilessly crucified by his own supporters for no reason at all. Mind you I've done some Watts bashing, but not in his first year FCS. I've seen Thump do some things that I liked very much and I reckon he'll be a good one
