Very, very glad to see.

Roos is too smart to send the wrong signals.

With this though comes the news we are after Adams from GWS - even better news, and in a very good position to get him for nothing (except his salary cost) via pick 2 in the PSD, but no trade necessary. A great start to trading under Roos. Our mid field is looking better already.

I heard a rumour that Adams met Hardwick and toured Punt Rd yesterday.

With Carlton and Geelong also interested, why would he want to come to us?

Roos, and we have pick 2, in both the ND and PSD. Richmond have salary cap issues, although that will be relieved by losing Martin, but they are unlikely to get any trades for him should he go through the pick 1 in the PSD. We have much more room to maneuver than Carlton, Richmond or Geelong. And further, we now have a credible narrative, delivered by the master strategist Paul Roos, and his hard nosed partner in crime Peter Jackson.

They will achieve a huge amount this trade period

Mick and especially Carlton are usually good at getting what they want though.

But you make a good case, I shalt not get thy hopes up though.

I'm sure Roos and PJ can lure a few mids. Our forward line and back line is ready to go.

I am hoping for;

Adams (A-grade potential),

* A genuine ready to go A-grader

Gysberts (Cheap work in progress),

Moloney (mature grunt),

Cross (mature grunt)

Would be a solid start. Throw in one more youngster and we will be well on our way to being breakeven competitive.

Yes, gysberts may well prosper under Roos. I always remember his first game down at Geelong where he had 26 touches. Another one of Neeld's wasted talent. Maybe worth another try as a late draft pick.

Is Maloney out of contract? Why would he leave? The old team with the Russian might be interesting, but I doubt whether it will happen somehow.

See in Roos we trust.

I am more confident than ever he will make all the right decisions for this club which has been sadly lacking in the last 7 yrs.

Onward and upward.

Let's get Woewodin and Trapper back while we're at it, then the midfield will be set!

I still think we are 12-24 months away from being able to lure real talent to the club (depending on results maybe longer). Top line players looking to move will wait to see how we fair this year under Roos before making a move. Let alone who the senior assistant/s will be before deciding.

Mid-level and older players again this year I fear but show a bit next year and the wheel will turn. If not then it has to be through the draft and player development.

Could be a very good player, but Roos knows more and maybe his "no d-head policy" has determined that he is not for us.

I agree, a player would have to be very brave to come over after all the years of shite. Even with Roos we aren't guaranteed to turn it around so people will be more inclined to wait and see actual results first.

Moloney if he was out of contract would be a maybe because we know what he brings...but he really isnt up to the modern pace of the game anymore. Great clubman though.

Viney will have Beamers spot now anyhow.

Gysberts....are you serious.....absolute dud who doesnt like to do the hard yards to be an AFL standard player which is why he spent all year virtually in Nths twos.

Finished.

I'm happy with this.
I was getting worried that yet again we would just pick up whoever was available and hope for the best.

We want Taylor Adams.

Trolololololol!!!

Hates the coach so stops trying. Openly defies instruction. Won't change body shape when asked. Bullies team-mates. Only runs one way.

Worst clubman possible.

Yup and we won't get him. When you have the Pies, Geelong and even the Tigs "interested" I know where I'd go before the Dees.

Is this a serious post?

Richmond will want something good for Martin and GWS will want something good for Adams.

I see a problem there - a straight swap?

There is no chance of Adams going through PSD is there? (just walking out on his club after 2 years?)

I'm not of the opinion we get everyone or even try to get everyone (how many 'name surname' threads get started on here as soon as some fringe player leaves a club?) but we should have a red hot crack. We have one trump card in pick number 2. Plus if Paul Roos came to you and made a pitch, it would make you more likely to listen at least.

I do see your point though Cards but if I were the club, it would be negligent of me to not at least make inquiries.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
