It drives me crazy, he squeels this crap at anyone who will listen, this is the fourth article i have read about exactly this in a month

The other clubs must be prepared that if the MFC doesn't get a priority pick this year it basically mean the priority pick is dead. It's funny to listen to members of the media whose teams have greatly benefited from the priority picks in the past now come out dead against us getting one. Carlton for example has 3 priority no 1 picks, they shouldn't have been in the draft for 2 of those years due to cheating but found a loop hole that allowed them to get Gibbs and Murphey followed up with the tank year to get Kruzer. Of the top 8 teams I think 5 have benefited from priority picks.

We have had 7 bad years and received 2 priority picks. The media are making it out that we have a heap of proirity picks, the other early picks we have had are due to trading, losing a No1 pick to an expansion club and our National draft picks.

That's it isn't it, as Jackson has stated the club has been a drain on the competition. The commission will act in the best interests of the competition and I'm sure they will be interested in the propaganda campaign being run by the other clubs and not necessarily swayed by it one way or another.

The reason the AFL is run by a commission and not by the individual clubs is exactly for this.

There's a rule on the AFL's books that allows for draft assistance to clubs with poor records. The AFL has to consider that rul on the basis of the here and now and not upon anything else.

Quite frankly, if the clubs can have a say in the way the AFL is run then I say scrap the prospective compensation to Hawthorn and Collingwood if Buddy and Daisy are taken as free agents.

Exactly. Hawthorn and Collingwood have both won flags directly through priority picks (and tanking).

Poor clubs like us will be hurt most if they take away the compensation for free agents. We will become a gateway for other clubs to pick off our best talent.

I don't think so, let the other clubs know we want/are more than likely going to get one,

people need to remember this isn't about keeping others happy, this pick could have us going up the ladder quite abit if we use it right.

Sydney gets extra money for some sort of 'cost of living' allowance, which we all know isn't used on cost of living. Collingwood, Essendon, Carlton, Richmond get to avoid trips to Geelong. Hawthorn travels to fewer interstate clubs because it gets accommodated for its decision to play down in Tasmania.

In one way or another, many other clubs get some sort of leg up from the AFL.

We happen to be the biggest basket case the competition has ever faced. Unlike the other nice little advantages the other clubs get, ours is to help us out of the quagmire, to ensure we don't fall apart, that we don't continue to ruin their financial bottom lines.

A strong Melbourne is in everyone's best interests, whether Damien Barrett likes it or not.

It is not relevant that we have drafted poorly to whether we get a PP but the AFL will want to tread lightly and Barrett thinks he is going to be the darling of the other clubs if he kicks up a stink about it.

To be honest, I understand where people are coming from when they say 'MFC does not need handouts, MFC needs to stand on its own two feet.'

We have been stockpiling high draft picks, Priority Picks and compensation picks for years and we have gotten worse.

Our race to the bottom in 2009 clearly had an adverse effect on our club's culture, whether or not it is tanking is beside the point. MFC's naive reliance on draft picks in place of hard work is a major reason why we find ourselves where we do in 2013.

MFC must create a winning culture. Will another Priority Pick assist with this or will it simply continue the cycle of our playing list & club relying on others for success?
