My Heart Beats True - 2014 Membership Campaign Launched

Good to see Jesse being part of the campaign.

Perhaps they could have squeezed Roosy in there in the last minute.

I will probably get shot down and I don't want to be a wet blanket but I just wish we could actually see Hogan play a bit before making him a poster child for the club. We tend to do this at Melbourne, hype things up too much and get ahead of ourselves.

I agree completely, but the above is not what I get angry at - I will be angry if we allow him in front of the media before his first game, or if we have an extended '[censored]' piece on the website before his first game, or if we build up his first game for any reason.

I think Jackson is smarter than that and I know Roos will protect him.

Hogan is not the answer to our prayers. He is a good footy player who can help us win footy games in the future.

Using 18 year olds as marketing tools is in the rear-view I hope.

It's a valid point, although if it sells a few more memberships while the hype is high I'm all for it.

I believe the opposite.

If we do to Hogan what we did to Watts in 2009 that would be a disaster - we swapped 10k at the gate and a few hundred memberships for ruining a kids introduction to AFL.

He should never have played, and if it cost us $100k not to play him - so be it.

Same with Hogan.

I'm a big fan, it's a well designed piece of art really.

I like the moto, steering clear from the excessive history yet still blends whilst looking forward to the future.

The photoshopping with the hint of light in the background is just fantastic. In all honesty it's one of the better pieces I've seen.

I also like in their now video how they have steered clear of the white jumpers (exc. Hogan because we only have footage within him in the white).

Although the difference with Hogan is that he's ready to go round one, Watts wasn't - let alone the Queens birthday weeks later.

The games he played (and dominated) in the VFL is enough to merit excitement for his introduction, and include him on the banner. If Viney is on there after his first season I don't see why Hogan can't be either.

Although I completely agree with you both, I would hate see another "Hogan is our savior like thread" with people expecting him to come out and immediately play like a Lance Franklin, or prime Jonathan Brown. It's the same kind of bias and hype people get caught up with regarding the top 10 draft picks.

I wonder how many of those are roll over members like myself compared to peeps who have joined post Roos signing

I hope they keep stats on who is joining cause of Roos as it will be real interesting to c the effect he has on membership.

Will also be interesting to c what number of members hold off until they c results on the field too.

Tbh u can't blame them considering the last 7 yrs.

a friend of mine who was questioning whether to sign up again for next year rang in today to renew his membership based on Roos coming on board, the membership team said they have been very busy with similiar reasons since Friday!

Would be great to get to that 40k mark and really start to lay some foundations for a new culture and club!

Signed up this morning. 44 years and counting. I am not one to make rash predictions and while I do not for one second want to suggest we will make the finals, I will just say I reckon going to the footy in 2014 will be a far more enjoyable experience than the last 5 years. Then again, that's not saying much. It needs to be. Still, I have not felt this confident about our rightful place in AFL in a long time.

Does anyone here remember a 'T-shirt Design' competition held by the MFC about a year ago? Winner was going to have his/her design put into production and also win a range of prizes..

The competition was cancelled for some reason.. And a winner was never announced... My design at the time.. is EXACTLY what the new membership campaign slogan and design is.. but the 'heart' symbol was our red 'M' in the shape of a heart..

I feel partly used and partly impressed that it was something that I sorta came up with it would seem...

It's been a long time since we have mentioned the MFC and finals in the same breath or paragraph and I like it, i like it a lot.

44 years is a long time congrats on sticking fat iws

    DERAILMENT by KC from Casey

It wasn’t quite a trainwreck although at times, it sure looked like one, so I’ll settle for “derailment”.  The trip to Brighton Homes Arena in Springfield outside the back of Brisbane might not exactly be the same place where Homer Simpson’s family resides but, if you listened closely to the utterances of the Casey Demons fans both at the ground or watching via livestream, you could hear lots of groaning and plenty of expressions of “D'oh!” reverberating in the background, particular

TEN YEARS AFTER by Whispering Jack

Things have changed in the more than ten years since the West Coast Eagles decimated Melbourne by 93 points on the MCG early in the 2014 season. The two sides had not met at the home of football in the interim until yesterday when Melbourne won by a comfortable 54 points to remain in contention for this year’s finals series. Back in those days, the Demons were in the midst of their Great Depression but they have since tasted premiership glory and experienced a long enough period among

GAMEDAY: Rd 17 vs West Coast

It’s game day and the Demons return to Melbourne to play the Eagles at the MCG for the first time in over a decade. A win keeps the Dees finals hopes alive whereas a loss will almost certainly slam the finals window shut.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
