  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

So do I, I would love Voss to take that role. First day of pre-season our players walk in Paul Roos, premiership coach and standing next to him a 3 time premiership captian brownlow medalist, you have to respect that.

Voss went straight from media to coach and he did it his way stuffed up early but over the last couple of years made some very good footballers out of some late draft picks and rookies. He would be a very good senior assistant, midfield coach.

Wonder how it would sit with Mitch Clark if Voss showed up on the doorstep?

I'm not sure but I don't think they parted on the best of terms and from what Mitch said when he arrived it didn't appear that Voss had much time for him.

I thought that too the other day..

I still continue to laugh at the way Brisbane have completely stuffed this up. Sacked Voss thinking Roos was dead set in the box seat for them only to turn them down.

There board is a disgrace

Would love Adam Simpson.

If we didn't land Roos, I think I would have pushed for Simpson for the top job.

He has enormous wraps on him, and has been working under a great premiership coach.

If we could land the best senior coach and best assistant coach out there, it will be an absolutely massive achievement.

IMO unless Simpson is offered a senior gig now (either with WC or Brisbane), he would be looking favourably on this job, because realistically Clarkson could be the senior coach at Hawthorn for another 5-6 years the way they are travelling.

This is a guarentee for a senior gig in 3 years, while learning from one of, if not the best coaches mentor.

Funny to think we ended up with the man they wanted, and could possibly have Voss coaching under him..

The Lions supporters would have to be shaking their heads at how this has all panned out..

From what I've heard, a group of younger players were the catalyst for Voss being axed as they would sign on.. This might show he didn't have a good relationship with the younger players at the club??

I'd happily have Voss as an assistant, but I don't think he'll be the annointed senior assistant set to take over.

I do think Voss will be looking for a job in Melbourne.

It is reported he wants to be able to settle in the one place for an extended period, as his kids are about to go into high school.

There are more teams in Melbourne than anywhere else, so if things to sour at one club, he can always just shift his workplace & not move the family.

I wouldn't rule out Geelong as a home for him either.

In fact, I think a couple may leave.

Heard whispers Caracella could be on the move.

Lappin is highly sought-after, too.

Explain yourself..

the type he recruits speaks loudly about his cultural directions.

I like his tenacious physical direction of footy, (& that is tempting to a supporter like me),, but we are talking about more fundamental needs this organisation requires to turn it into a club. not a facelift, that a coach like Voss or Woosha would bring..

Its soul needs restoring, before any real lasting gains can be made.

Remember, Roos picked Ross Lyon and Longmire as assistants, thats a pretty good record, i think he knows his stuff.

Happy to leave it up to him, but Simpson seems like a stand out to me if Ling doesnt want it.

Have before. Basically he is a poor communicator with players, does not listen, does not have the intellect to change the game (Lyon, Clarkson, Roos) and doesn't delegate well. A great player but failed coach. We can and will do much better.

Senior assistant to be named soon: Roos

http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2013-09-10/senior-assistant-to-be-named-soon-roos

Roos said keeping Jack Watts and Colin Sylvia remained high on the list of priorities.

He said the decision on the senior assistant role was likely to be made before Watts had to make a call on whether he was staying at Melbourne.

Not saying that he will be the successor however I can confirm that Glen Bartlett has an existiing relationship with John Worsfold and they have had a number of discussions this week about a role at Melbourne.

I hope he is not!

The guy needs a break from football (12 straight years as coach must be very taxing).

We need someone still reasonably young with fire in their belly (Scott Burns/Simpson?)

my first post ever: what about J-MAC?? Might not have had alot of success, but always played with ALOT of heart, is a smart guy, small amount of experience with GWS... plus i love him

He has already turned the club down for an assistant position.

Wants to stay at GWS for the time being.

Worsfold has officially turned down any potential offer to be coach at Brisbane, according to the AFL website.

The may still go for Neil Craig, but it does increase the likelihood that both of Simpson and Burns may be unavailable for us.

I think they are the clubhouse leaders in terms of preference.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
