One of the most exciting players I have ever seen. Half the time I'd sit their laughing at how good he was. It was tragic seeing him throw it all away by getting himself into so much trouble. An incredible waste of talent. You wonder what Aaron Davey in a full-time coaching / Indigenous mentor role could do for someone like Jurrah if he were to return to Victoria?

Club has been in constant contact with him during his travailles.

this would get me back! There is nothing i would wont more..... Liam has unfinished business here....

Thanks... This brightened my night...

The most naturally gifted player at the Dees since Flower. I know he never realised his potential but if he did it would be magical, for us and him!

PS where are you rudeboy? We miss you and Liam

I know he has a huge amount of work to do to get his game right and perhaps to prove that the club can trust him, but I think it could be worthwhile to give him a rookie spot and have him play next year at Casey. At least then we'd have a chance to set him goals regarding his fitness and defensive work and see if he has the discipline to make himself a modern AFL player. It would cost us a rookie pick and give us first dibs on a huge talent should he prove able to do it.

Do people even realise we still dont have a coach!? Pretty sure its a coach who gets last say in who he wants on our list.

Jurrah will never play for the MFC ever again.

yeah it won't happen... But this thread has given us a chance to relive something positive.... So let the dreaming continue....

It could be a good thing, although we do have a glut of forwards at the moment.

How many points did we score on the weekend?

Cant believe anyone would even mention Casey!! He is the most uniquely talented player ever to wear the red and blue.

Stick him inside F50 until he retires don't bench him after every goal! Let his offensive play shine in whatever way he chooses to - no one can teach what he has. And just encourage the defensive side of his game to develop.

A combination of Melbourne player mismanagement and community/private turmoil (in that order) combined to see us lose a rare talent. If we have chance to get him back, which I dont think we really do, then for god's sake - let him play 4 quarters of AFL football once a week.

He was without doubt one of the most popular players at Melbourne and my Grandson proudly wore his number, but even he, at 10 years of age, was disappointed at what went on with him; whilst I'm a bit more forgiving I don't know if he would be.

I'd love to see him in our team again but I just can't see it happening, for starters we would have to draft him and he would probably attract attention if he was fit enough and then we would have to have some sort of commitment from him which, after what happened last time, we would have difficulty believing.

Whilst on the subject of Jurrah, perhaps we could look at getting a priority pick from the AFL of any NT player, considering our commitment there.

One of the best to watch, thanks for all the great memories and the humility flash.

Comes across as a fantastic guy with his priorities in the right order, all the best for the future.

And who could blame him... there were some pretty vicious slurs thrown his way. I for one, would love to see Rudeboy posting on this site again.

The club has done a lot of things wrong over the years but to state that "Melbourne player mismanagement" was the primary reason for the problems Jurrah has encountered is just totally incorrect. Apparently Schwab is responsible for the troubles in Egypt.

Not entirely true... he needed Jack Watts' help on that one.

But then who's responsible for Syria?

Show up on time every time at the pre-season then we'll talk.

Jurrah would bring out the crowd.... I know of at least 10 people that havent been going to footy, that would if Jurrah was there.... Surely the AFL would allow us to pre-list him, on to our rookie list.... They allow Collingwood to do this with Marty Clark.... Why not Jurrah for us? Its a small step for them.. But a big boost in crowd numbers for us....

KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Beautiful morning, not much wind, more than a couple of dozen spectators.  The players were up and about, boisterous and having fun. One of their last drills were three teams competing in a hard at it, handball game in a small area. Goody

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
