Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>

Oh come on. You get one lot regurgitating one side's line and the other lot regurgitating the other side's. They can't both be the full truth. In your world all a journalist has to to is to publish the press releases of the interested parties and their job is done. Why both with journalists at all?

Now now sue. You have gone from seeking out the truth to the full truth. I don't think you or I are in position to determine that. But the press on this saga has increasingly built their story on EFCs failures consistent with the extent of the charges on the Club.

And trying to misrepresent my position to try and salvage your shifting sand position surprises me that your not a card carry member of those you seek to deride.

Interestingly as I note a slight nervousness in JH...I sense a reluctant AD sniffing the kill. He didnt want to. but the Hills being Windy are giving him no choice.

Curiously the arrogance of Little does Hird no favours.it gives him a false sense of brotherhood. Little can weather this Hird will be destroyed

oh well

If you have an issue you should always address the problem at the source.

The AFLs hotchpotch handling of the guilty parties in the MFC tanking and the Crows draft corruption has already soiled their integrity.

This cuts to the core of the game and the critical issue of player welfare where WADA and the ACC are involved and the sporting world is watching this.

I don't think the AFL will breach its TV rights obligations voluntarily by excluding Essendon but its impossible for Hird and others to survive this.

Once Essendon gets smart and realises that this has become all about Hird fighting for his integrity and trashing his club in the process then they will decouple the 4 aminos. Heaven help them if the ASADA final report issues one infraction notice on an Essendon player.

And when the dust does Paul Little should be jettisoned urgently as he has been pivotal in exacerbating the problem and has left the clubs relationship with the AFL, government bodies, the other 17 clubs , its players and the general public in tatters.

A disgraceful episode in AFL history and the worst in the clubs long history.

Spot on!

Gosh, I don't see that I have shifted the goalposts. When I said 'truth' in the first post, in my naive way I assumed it meant the "full truth'. What sort of partial truth is there - it ain't the truth if it is not complete. Don't bother to respond, we clearly live on different planets in this.

Did you hear the ever so slight hesitations ? he knows hes on a hiding to nothing....actually...just a hiding !!

muwhahahaha !!

Hird is at the point of no return. He may still believe he can escape with his reputation in tact, but that is quite clearly delusional . I am reminded of the photograph of Lance Armstrong posing in front of his 7 yellow jerseys after USADA had investigated him. Lance seemed to almost enjoy the moment. A reasonable person in Hird's position would have backed down long ago. You would do it for your Club and the game you love not to mention your family and friends. What does that say about the man that he refuses to accept responsibility for the mess he has created.

And as I have asked a number of times how would you know what the [insert your choice of truth] actually is?

Do they have shifting sands on your planet? Now be truthful.....

On CH9, Gary Lyon has stated that if it is proven that the Mexican sourced substance was administered to the 34 players, as stated in the charges document, and if he was a current Essendon player, he would walk out and encourage his team mates to do the same.

This would be the right response from a player. I expect that the Essendon players will be considering their health, at the moment. Morale would be so low. Hird must be losing the dressing room - why would you listen to him, when he is so self-centred?

The train wreck is happening. This will make Melbourne look like we had a good year.

You should fire up a dormant drive every 6-12 months. Keep the bearings alive. They are the first bit to go.

This is a good Footy Classified. Even the velvet sledgehammer is in shock.

I have always said WADA is the final barrier.

They won't win. The harder they push the more pain will be felt.

Essendon are GONE. The entire club is emersed...

Had to laugh when Messendon suggested the AFL was running to an agenda.

Of course they are you bunch of fools ....its called being accountable to a higher signatory.

The AFL has to follow rules and so to must you Messendon...thats the agenda.

its not personal Paul, James, Mark, Stephen, Dean and Co

this mob must be on something !!!...oh wait.....

Interesting mention on the show of rumoured suggested penalty by agreement was $2.5m fine, loss of two years draft picks, didn't specify which ones and 12 month suspension for Hird. Bombers and Hird knocked it back.

I think that is pretty light, considering it is the worst scandal in the history of the game.

They must now be looking at more, when they go down.

    GIANT HEADACHE by Whispering Jack

The crack in the captain’s ankle might be very small but the repercussions of the injury are enormous. The aftershock of the news that Max Gawn will sit on the sidelines for the next two or three weeks has provided Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin with a giant headache, not unlike the one he faced after the Kings Birthday when another Demon superstar Christian Petracca suffered his season-ending injury. That headache is magnified by the fact that Goodwin is facing a month of tough encounters a

    DERAILMENT by KC from Casey

It wasn’t quite a trainwreck although at times, it sure looked like one, so I’ll settle for “derailment”.  The trip to Brighton Homes Arena in Springfield outside the back of Brisbane might not exactly be the same place where Homer Simpson’s family resides but, if you listened closely to the utterances of the Casey Demons fans both at the ground or watching via livestream, you could hear lots of groaning and plenty of expressions of “D'oh!” reverberating in the background, particular

TEN YEARS AFTER by Whispering Jack

Things have changed in the more than ten years since the West Coast Eagles decimated Melbourne by 93 points on the MCG early in the 2014 season. The two sides had not met at the home of football in the interim until yesterday when Melbourne won by a comfortable 54 points to remain in contention for this year’s finals series. Back in those days, the Demons were in the midst of their Great Depression but they have since tasted premiership glory and experienced a long enough period among

GAMEDAY: Rd 17 vs West Coast

It’s game day and the Demons return to Melbourne to play the Eagles at the MCG for the first time in over a decade. A win keeps the Dees finals hopes alive whereas a loss will almost certainly slam the finals window shut.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b
