Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>

Yes. Imagine the poor dudes at the players association trying to monitor and do something for the players' long-term health but are hamstrung by the fact that nobody (supposedly, but I wouldn't believe it in a pink fit) can say what they were given. They keep records of every bloody little thing they do - except for what they were injecting into their arms (my wife is a nurse - finds this the most surprising aspect of the whole thing - says they have to keep records of every little thing they do. I suppose shes only surprised because she comes from the legitimate health world, rather than the body-building 'sports science' muscles-and-balls-in-inverse-proportions one (if that makes sense)

Hopefully this will continue to punish the Bummers for years to come. Lawsuits from players in ten or twenty years? Delisted players spilling th beans? All good.

I wouldn't be surprised if there are records somewhere; maybe someone is keeping them for self insurance.

Maybe they have been handed over to the governing bodies.

If Vlad wasnt compromised the league would truly have their curlies.

To me only shows the complicity early in all this mess.

The article by Patrick Smith pulls no punches, listing Hird's sins and AD's woes:

A million bucks for Hird to twiddle his thumbs - quite a punishment

ends with

In the end Demetriou's biggest mistake was that he had not considered it possible a man of Hird's (previous) standing in football would not acknowledge the damage he had done and would continue to do to his club and to his sport.

Yesterday Hird made a million bucks at the same time he lost the last drop of his dignity, last dollop of respect.

A pretty scathing article and paints Hird as a selfish arrogant man who has no regards for his club, just his own ego.

I had a look at bomberblitz and the thread to do with all this has disappeared. Any good conspiracy theory as to why?

There would be no need for a discussion over there. The thread would start with "we are innocent and it's all AD's fault" then there would be 1000 I agree posts.

But by whom?

Oh yes they can. They are Essendon after all. They can do what they please and AD is too weak and scared to take them on. WADA / ASADA on the other hand MAY prove to be a different proposition.

May?

June?

July?

And of what year?

The atmosphere about this investigation is truly dank.

I think during The Weapon's interview the site went into melt down so they made a separate forum only available to members (I remember reading an admin post on the site saying this and all ASADA/Drug related threads will be moved there).

It was a great read prior to that though!

Do they have a "LIKE" button?

They did but it was used too much after someone posted after a game. " The weapon and Dr.Dank have transformed our players into some of the most gifted athletes the AFL has ever seen"

I was reading the thread on BomberBlitz yesterday. The posters were going ballistic about Demetriou and my guess is that one of the posters over there got stroppy and demanded it be removed on the grounds that it was just tasteless and puerile.

Hey, wasn't shooting. Just asking --- I'm just thinking of joining to get in on the entertainment.

"A life" wasn't meant to be rude; it's the only reason I can think of.

I just tried to make an account to see what else could stop me from just signing up and looking at the forum. It asked me an Essendon related question "to protect from spammers" and after I clicked register this popped up:

I enjoyed the post on Bomberblitz which complained about the Hird/whatever thread being removed because then he couldn't celebrate the victory of Hird getting his $1m. I have a bridge to sell to that fellow.

On the other hand, maybe he is wiser than I give him credit for. Paying Hird to keep out of the way overseas may reasonably be seen as a victory for Essendon supporters given the damage he has done.

You're wrong in the sense that he earned his $1 million not for doing nothing, but for doing the wrong thing!

Hypothetically, if he is charged by ASADA what happens to the million?

If you're a paid up member would you be happy if you donated money to the club, particularly considering this has cost them to date just under $4 million, and Hird who was at the helm of all of this has been paid?!

He shouldn't have taken the money. Not with how much he has cost and damaged the club, players and supporters.

On the other hand maybe he knows what's coming and getting as much as he can get before the charges.

PS: Great last line! 4,000+ injections... OVER FOUR THOUSAND! What's more worrying is WorkSafe's silence.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los
